Hello everyone,

I am living in Poland (strictly English speaker though) and I am considering buying the new Logan MCV because it looks like really good value for money!

Some of my friends have told me that there are problems though with the 1.5 dCi engine because the diesel in Poland is of poor quality and the injectors keep clogging up.

Could anyone give me some advise or share experiences?!? I am afraid I am very blond as far as cars are concerned (that's what you get for being a woman ohmy.gif )

I am trying to make up my mind whether to buy the MCV 1.6 16v or the 1.5 dCi.

Thanks!
Sophia

take in consideration buying a full equipped one. dci is very sensible to water and fuel injectors to tinny debries. the torq is ok, but the power is way far from enough. 1.6 16v is the right choise if you care about pleasure of driving and pleanty of interior space.

Hi Blondie
I dont think the engine is made in Poland blush.gif it will have the same injectors as we all have smile.gif .It also has a filter before the injectors so it will catch any dirt out of the tank blink.gif
Go for it and dont listen to the others trying to spoil your dream mad.gif

Hi
I drive an 1.5 dci for over a year and I can tell you I fell in love with this motor. It's my first diesel engine car but I will remain a diesel fan from now on. As about the problems, I searched in Romanian part of the forum and I found only one big problem with the injectors . The truth is that the logan equiped with this motor is still relativelly new on market, so we should expect problems to come over a a few more years (let's hope not).
In my opinion: if you intend to drive over 20000 km / year, you are not fan of speed driving and care about fuel consumption, take the diesel engine.
If you love driving with 170km/h on highways, need more acceleration take the 1.6 16v. It's your choise. Good luck.

So for start now I sense a new war between diesel and gasoline fans… the fact is that diesel engine becomes in Europe the the most bought engine. The quality of the fuel that you have in your country it cannot be poorer that the quality of the diesel here in Romania. I think in the whole former east block the quality is the same with few quality standards.
I’m sure you know all the advantages of the diesel, not only the saving of money for fuel, but also the higher torque al low rpm, the fun of driving an very easy to drive engine, and I could go on and on. The fact is that 1.5 DCI is one of the newest engines from Renault, it equips clio 3, megan, modus, some Nissan models and so on. This engine was a hit for Renault.
It depends on what you will use the MCV, the millage that you do per year and so on. Regarding the price that is almost the same, so the usage of the car will make the difference.

Best regards….

If you are going to drive around with 7 people plus cases you need the Bigger motor
If it is just for a small family doing normal driving go for the smaller
I have the 14MPI Logan and it is perfect for my wife and myself
Even when we have the mother-inlaw with us it is ok
(though I would like to have her in the boot radmasa.gif )

@Moloney
Stay calm because in Romania there are few gas stations where you can find a good quality diesel fuel. We also have problems with some of the DCI's because of the fuel that messes up the injectors

Saving for a Logan Hatchback Diesel

Hi Sophia

I won't say diesel is better or worse, that depends on a lot of criteria and your personal taste (and I think this post is not the right one anyway ). But as far as the 1.5 dci is concerned I have to say I LOVE that engine. I've driven thousands of km in a 1.5 dci 65 hp Clio and it's one of the best engines I've ever driven. It's smooth, accelerates really well (for 65 hp, of course), you can really give gas from 1500 rpm on and it's anything but "thirsty".

I'm afraid I can't tell if you're gonna have problems in Poland due to fuel quality, but I suppose that's a normal problem with all modern common rail engines, fuel has to be of good quality. The worst of it is that injectors are really expensive and Renault / Dacia might refuse to pay for them by saying it's not their fault unsure.gif

All the best !

Hello!

I think the 1.5 DCI is the best choice, from my point of view:
- less pollution - the most important thing !!! I'd buy injectors every 3 years (if neccesary), just for this important reason.
- better fuel consumption
- better torque, which in fact is more important than horse-power
- more fun to drive, much more fun, in fact wub.gif

Good luck!
