I Myself have no Problems after 4000 hard Kms
Boris

As for me, noting worth mentioning after 20 000 km. I still think the car is well worth it's price.

The ABS and the ait conditionig have payed them self off by now smile.gif
Mario_b
I have driven 17000km and no major problems so far.
The only repair I made was the rear-driving light and it was a broken switch that was changed at the auto repair for free. Also the glove compartment door will not close fully but I will fix that when I have some spare time.
Touho
Hi all!
8000 km and everything is going great.
ABS working perfectly and everything else too.
See you soon!
DenNy
13.000km no problems.
Only annoying sound ( front-seat passenger somewhere in both door)when sometimes hits small holes on the road...
Nothing else.
And talking about ABS.......it saved my as* few times!!!
martin245
Now this is the reaction I was waiting for .The Logan is as good as any other vehicle .
It is cheap relieable and lovable
If you want to buy one then GO FOR IT .

I use every day a Dacia Logan Laureate 1.6 MPI 90HP. The car has over 24.000 km (arround 24.345). It was bought in May, 2005. There were no problems with the car.
I drive 35% inside and 65% outside (of the city). Outside the city, where the road it's ok, I drive with 130-140 km/h.
The average fuel consumption (inside and outside) is about 6.5 litre/100 km.
The car is ok. I'm pleased with it.

Has anyone of you noticed any change in engine power/performance/reduced fuel consumption etc. before and AFTER first 3000 km (as is written in car manual booklet)?

They say in manual that car will reach optimum performance only after 3000 km - but can we "feel" it? Or that is something that could be only measured with special test equipment (compression etc.)

martin245
After 4000km I have noticed a difference in the vehicles power
it was sluggish when it was new and now it responds very well
The fuel consumption is Ok (but this depends on how you drive )
All in all If you run in your car properly (not going over4500RPM)
and not over 130kmph for the first 3000km you wont go wrong.I used this method and .I must also say I have used NO oil

I have 12.500km with my logan Laureate 1.4- bought in october 2005.
Only two minor problems: the steering was squeaking last winter (solved with some silicone grease) and the A/C was noisy in one very hot day.
My opinion remains unchanged: best deal for the money paid.

PS: @zorpetus: after 3000km you will feel that the engine will be a little more responsive, but the fuel consumption won't change much.
sorin_f39
During the running in period you have to respect the manufacturer's indications. It's better to do that if you want that your engine to work properly after the running in period. This period could be between 1000 and 3000 km.
After 3000 - 4000 km, the average fuel consumption will be a little bit comparatively with the initial consumption.
About the "real" performance of the car after 3000 km, yes, you can feel it. Push down your leg on the pedal and you will feel the power of all the ......... 75 HP or 90HP, depends on your car. smile.gif
icatenej
15.000+ ... There is no single problem so far.
Touho
My first 3000 km in my Dacia Logan Base 1.4 75 CV were quite aweful if I refer to the benzine consumtion because it was about 9-10 liters per 100 km.
After the 3000 km, everything is ok and the consumtion nowdays is about 5.8 liters per 100 km in mixing roads.
See you soon!
Mr. Andzha
15 000 km with my Logan. Had an accident when Ford Scorpio hit my back while leaving parking space backwards. Small scratch on Scorpio's bumper, I lost plastic on rear-right light lamp, really scratched my bumper and completly lost plastic rear-right splash board. It would cost me about 350 EUR to fix it if not of the insurance.

Have the same problem with glove compartment door that will not close, A/C can be very noisy in VERY hot day, have noticed strange clicking sound after I automaticly close driver-side window (but one small hit on the door makes the sound disappear smile.gif ), can get very dirty in saloon because of the absence of the air filter (and you must be as lazy as I am smile.gif ) and that's it. Great car for very great price.
martin245
My First Problem has turned up .But it was a small one .The Screw that holds the stop bar on the drivers door came loose (Bodywork end) .Good idea to Check yours as well excl.gif Because in a high wind when you open the door it can rip out of its mountings and that would be a dear repair job

Same thing happend on my father's car, but on passenger's door.
It is a thorx screw, and if you have set oh thorx screwdrivers, you could check and if necesarry, fasten all 4 screws.
Touho
Hi all!
I have driven 15.000 km with my Dacia Logan 1.4 Base and I had my first problem few weeks ago.
Both front car doors had one lose screw each. Every time I was openning the front doors I heard a noise like "crok-crok-crok". After checking it a bit I realised that the screw was lose. First it happened to the left front door and few days after it happened to the left front door which I use less.

Another problem was the joins of the water tubes used to spread water on the front window.
All the joins between the tube and the plastic that directs the water towards the front window were damaged at the limit so the one on the left side was not working at all.
Of course i went to Renault and they repaired for free.

I also past my first 15.000 km revision were Renault changed the oil and the oil filter and checked the car in general and everything was ok and it costed to me 109 euros.
So Dacia Logan's revisions are quite cheap.

See you all!
darkozi
Yesterday, when I was picking up my new Logan a guy came to complain about the water tubes for the front window.
The dealer told him that it is a well known problem. He told me that people come with the same problem, and told me that I can expect it too blink.gif
"So, just come back to our service and we will replace the tubes" that's what he said.
The problem is that the quality of the tubes is not so good so it moulders on high tempretures, like from sunshine.

Hello to everyone
I had face the following problems, besides these i would say it's an excellent car.

1. automaticly close driver-side window there is a noise after i close the passenger windows

2. The glove compartment it does not close well, i already claim warranty on it

3. and is the one i woul like to know if it's normal, when i put the car on neutral gear.
having the A/C ON or OFF there is a noise from the gear box, when i press the clotch the noise goes off.

i went to renault and they told me there is a technicall note on that , but they also said that i can live with it and there wont be no problem.

The way to solve this is to take the gear box down adjust it and then put it back on and that's it.

Does any of you know if this is true or not ?
DFA
1. The window lifting mechanism must be greased.
2. It is a known problem, the spring inside the locking mechanism is too "hard".
3. Also a known and common problem, but the noise is not from the gear box, it is the clutch that makes that "diesel" noise. There is no solution for this problem, the Valeo clutches that are on some Renault cars have this noise. Live with it, because it will not breake!
martin245
The noise comes from adry thrust bearing on the clutch it
may sort itself out

This means, will happen something to it ?
martin245
Clutch release noise

If you hear a noise when you depress the clutch pedal or as you release the clutch when taking off. Lightly depress the clutch pedal and if you hear a grinding or squealing noise you may have a problem with your release bearing or your clutch assembly.

Check Release bearing
Check clutch assembly for wear. Replace as necessary.

Noise when your car is idling and it goes away when you depress the clutch. Also you may hear whining noise when you are driving.

Worn Gearbox bearings. Gearbox will probably need reconditioning. With the gearbox removed it is advisable to inspect your clutch components and replace if worn.

This is something i should worry?
the local renault, told me not to worry, but if i want they can take the gear box down and adjust it. The thing is, this is new car and really sometimes is not the same after that if you know what i mean.
martin245
You will get a little bit of noise on the Logan due to the savings on soundproofing and stuff blush.gif
I would say to you mate .Just wait and drive the car and take it through its running in period (like I said b4) rolleyes.gif It is a new car so dont worry cool.gif .You are fully covered .I took mine to England from Germany on running in and I got used to the car wink.gif .It will have noises what doesnt dry.gif (You want to hear my cat in the early hours hahaha) radmasa.gif
Disregard the dry thrust bearing and just enjoy your new car biggrin.gif
and also ........LET US SEE IT !!!! excl.gif

Wrong!
If the noise comes up when you PUSH the clutch pedal, then YES, that noise comes from the bearing!
If the noise comes up when you have your foot away from the pedal, in neutral positin of the gearbox, then the noise comes from the clutch disc,. To be more specific, the noise comes from the springs on the disc! wink.gif
Btw, it's a known and common fact, Solenza had the same problem! Also, this problem occures to Renault Clio Symbol (or Thalia) 1.4i 8v 75 HP.

It can be the glass, that has cought some dirt/sand between itself and the 2 plastic holders of the lifting/lowering mechanism. It can be resolved by opening the door plastic panel, cleaning and greasing the glass holding mechanism. One long term solution on the romanian side of the forum is to put some cloth fabric between the glass and the glass holders.

I think that I have same "problem". But no so intensive, and somewhere from the back and front right door. Maybee more from the right one.

Hello!

I have a problem with my Logan's engine. Please have a look for the attached pictures:

user posted image

I am always found some oil in the place, what I marked with a red circle, but always just there. There is no oil anywhere! It seems, that the oil comes from the material of the engine block. sad.gif Do I have any chance to solve this problem? I am using Mobil1 5w-50 motoroil.
martin245
looks like the rocker cover gasket !! try tightning the screws around the cover if that dont work get a gasket ..Cheep and easy to fit
Stu
Marty
Yeah, rocker cover gasket. I'd go for a change, not for as retighten. Anyway, be advised that you have to tight the bolts/nuts to a specific torque.
martin245
look at the screws in the photo and it looks like a butcher has been to work on them
stu
sarktib
Nobody has been touched that screw! But what is intresting, there is/were no oil from the rocker cover gasket, because I'v checked by a lot of times. I don't see the source of the oil, it seems it's coming from the gap (which is on the center of the red circle)...
martin245
The oil on your photo is coming from the Right!!!!
give us a better photo because in your red circle it looks fine
