We had a lot of forest fires this summer, as we do every summer. I don't know the exact number for this year, but for example in 2003. we had 6924 fires in the countryside, and in 2004. we had 2855 such fires. That's a lot for country this size.
Police found evidence that a lot of them where deliberately caused.
My favorite one is a moron that had a fight with his girlfriend, went out of the house and started a fire that burnt his family's weekend house and a large part of mountain Velebit, including some parts of a national park. It took a week to put it out.
A couple of other idiots where also caught this year.
One of them was an Italian tourist that had a flat tire, abandoned his car and started a fire next to the road. No one knows why!
What are appropriate sanctions for such morons?
Some times they just get fined (with no prison), and some times they get charged with "endangering life and property with a dangerous act". That's cca 2-3 years of prison.
I think that should be a terrorist act if the person is not mentally ill and if it was intentional. I'm sick and tired of these morons and of the damage they do!!!
