three of our cars, two 1.4MPI 75HP limousines, the other a 68HP diesel MCV,
do drive with trailers very often, about 1000-1300kgs. with the gasoline version it is a pain, and needs sensible driving, with the diesel much less so, much easier to drive. do you want to know anything specific? greetings - heinz - |

Yep Diesel is the best choice for towing or you will be up and down the gears like a bubble in a bottle

Hi Guys,
Thanks for the instant replies, I guessed the 1.4 motor would struggle a bit. I'm hopeful with my 80cv Diesel now it has run in. In a few weeks time I'll send my findings, Regards Barrie. ![]() This post has been edited by Barrie: 8 Aug 2008, 09:14 |

talked some more with our drivers who use trailers (actually found a second one with a diesel MCV): additional fuel
usage is 1-4 liters extra/100km, much depending on the terrain and speed. anything over 85km/h really eats into fuel, even on the best of roads. they also say that driving attitude has even more influence on fuel than on trailer-less logans, the difference between rough and very gentle driving could easily be 3+L/100k, on the same road. all this seems to be very similar on both gasoline and diesels (not usage, but attitude and differences). they all agree, though, that even the weaker 68HP diesel is easier and more comfortable to drive with a heavy trailer than the 75HP gasoline, for obvious reasons. unfortunately, we dont have one of the 80HP diesels running with a trailer to compare. thats where you, barrie, will fill us in, pls. greetings - heinz - This post has been edited by heinz57g: 15 Aug 2008, 10:49 |
