Hello everyone,

My mahindra-renault logan 1.6 GLX has completed 2 months now with 1550 KMs on it as of today.

Since, I have not yet received the user manual for my logan, I would like to know after how many days / KMS more do I need to do my first service.

Also, what do the dealers do in first service? Do they change engine oil, oil-filters, petrol filters? How often I need to change my car's engine oil.

I love my car very much...therefore do not want to take any risk with its heart (that's its engine).

Regards,
Mahesh

Strange, why you have not received the user manual? Do you have service book, its must as it contains 3 free service coupons and details you are looking for.

Normally you need not to be worried for 1st year, coz dealer will remind you each time your service is due, also you should check from service book about not going beyond KMs limit for service.

Generally first service goes after 2000 kms or 3 months.

Thank you very much for your reply...

I will follow up with the dealer for the user manual. The same is not yet ready is what he had told me at the delivery of the car.

I will get that from him this weekend.

Does the dealer change engine oil in the first service?

Regards,
Mahesh

Here in europe for the Petrol engine the first service is 15000km it is only a check up and oil and filters are not changed .
I did not need any oil whatsoever on my first 15000km service and the service costs around 45 euro

first service is at 15.000 km or 1 year. they`ll change engine oil and air filter (u have a petrol engine so u don`t have fuel filter). they`ll check gear box oil level, coolant level, brake fluid level, and so on.

Motor Oil and filter and airfilter is NOT changed at 15000 or 1 year
it is just a check up
If you have paid for oil and filter at 15000 then you have been ripped off

It varies. In Estonia, the first service call is after 5000 km (an extra call because of the novelty of the make), then after every 20.000 km. These are Renault recommendations.

martin, in romania the service is at every 15.000 km for petrol engine and at every 10.000 km for diesel engine.
at everyone of this service will change the motor oil and the air filter.
at second service (30.000 or 2 years) they change brake pads, the spark plugs and coolant.
this is how they do it here, in romania, maybe it`s different in other countries.
btw, what does it say about oil change interval in ur logan manual?
does anyone have a scan of the manual?

Stu, in Romania -at least- oil and oil filter is changed at 15.000 km for sure.
The service interval is different for every country, depending of the local conditions. In Romania may be shorter than in France and in Indian may be shorter than in Romania.

Thank you all for helping me.

I have not done any service yet. My car reads 1550 kms and NOT 15000 KMs. It is just One thousand five hundred and Fifty Kilometers on my car.

I would like to share the background of my question. I earlier had a Suzuki esteem (its called SWIFT in europe. i now also have it after 12 years of use now) The service station had recommended to change engine oil every 6000 KMs on my Suzuki Esteem, so I thought whether I have to do oil change at simillar intervals even for LOGAN.

However, I thank you all for the valuable information that LOGAN does not require any oil change till the meter reads 15000 (Fifteen Thousand Kilometers) which is way too far from where I am as of now.

By the way, how the engine manages to perform well till 15000 (Fifteen Thousand Kilometers) of NO CHANGE IN THE ENGINE OIL.

Please do not take this question as a cross question to you all.

I am crazy of cars and this one is the one I love very much. So I need to take care of it.

You know, I have done carpet lamination of the modular carpet inside my logan to make sure my cabin is always neat and tidy.

Also, I have to put fog lamps on the bumper of my car because the fog lamps are not provided in my version of the car. What is your suggestion in this.

I am sorry to pose some stupid questions..but I still want to ask because obviously I do not consider these as "stupid" questions.

Regards,
Mahesh

Hi Mahesh,

First service do not require anything to be changed, just topup of some fluids with no charge and you dont have to pay anything for general service. Your service bill should read 0.00 INR.

Also standards are little bit different here in India, it cant be 15000 kms for first service in India. I have Diesel Logan and got changed filters and oil on second service (6000 KMs or 6 Months). But please mind Diesel engines need frequent changes than the Petrol ones.

Atlast you must get the service book coz without that you simply cant get the free service done. Servicing here and there can void warranty of your car.

Regarding fog lamps ... they are usefull only if you live in Northern India (fog hit areas). Its good if you go for Teflon coating, remote boot opener, parking sensor etc etc. if you really need them.

@ Mahesh You questions are NOT silly if you have a question then let us hear it
this is the whole reason for the forum

In Germany we do not change the OIL in a Petrol engined Logan until 30000km
so dont worry to much about the oil smile.gif
The 15000 limit in India will I expect be because of the High temp that you get in that country wub.gif
As for looking after your Logan .....Good work ! Look after her and She will look after you cool.gif

It's somewhat strange not to change oil until 30000. In my service booklet (Croatia) says service is due every 15000 km (or one year) for petrol engines UNLESS you are in areas of extreme weather conditions (dust/sand, extreme cold) or if you regularly drive only in traffic congested areas (city). For these extremes service is every 7500 km, especially for checkup of all fluids and parts which tear fast.

Yep, it's 15000 km in Croatia. For me that, means every year once. I do rughly 15 000 km a yaer.

And BTW I was charged for that 15000 km oil and filter change, and I would never go for two years (30000 km) without changing the oil.

Nice to see another Croatian Logan owner on this forum biggrin.gif
