Has any one ever used any kind of Tuning box for Diesel Logans to improve driving performance like increase in BHP & Torque?

One such tuning box is under development for Logan here in India from a person called Peter ( http://www.petes.in/psi.html ), He has successfully installed lot of boxes for other Diesel cars?

Forget it mate your engine is tuned to perfection
put on that box and you will have no garantee anymore
and may over rev your engine it has a rev govener
and for the power it gives extra ............
save your money and get a nice hifi with it

Since dacia logan is so popular here in Romania, there are tuning options.
I haven't heard of any powerboxes, but you can rewrite the engine's software (chiptuning, injection table modding etc.). I wouldn't recommend this because you lose the warranty and the gain isn't very important. Anyway, the diesel engine is designed for economy, not for high speed; you can buy the 105 BHP gas version if you want more power.

Dacia/Renault/Mahindra Logan is a budget car, not a sports car. The main problem (IMHO) is the stability of the car, not the power/torque.

What they say has little logic in it

11) Why is the higher power not proposed by the original Car manufacturers?
a) Some cars do have this option like for e.g. The Alfa Romeo is doing a special edition 147 with a Tuning Box.
cool.gif Some Countries have tax and insurance proportionate to the original
c) Power of the engine, so a more powerful car pays more tax and insurance.
d) Some manufacturers in certain Countries propose an increase as optional.
e) The ECU’s for a particular Car are usually manufactured in one of the plants for the whole world. Certain countries cannot accommodate excess power due to the low quality of fuel so the car is manufactured with a lower power output for the whole world to reduce overhead costs of making different ECU’s for different countries.

Also it will not affect the original warranty of the vehicle and will not get cought from diagnostic equipments.

Read full FAQ at: http://www.petes.in/psifaq.html

I too feel that mingling with original settings should be avoided but here in India lot of people running on pete's box with no problems at all.

Those F&Qs are from Pete But I can tell you if you go into your garage with a damaged motor and you have one of these box of tricks under the bonnet then
Dacia or Renault or Mahindra will say NO GO
you have interfered with the basic cars system during Garantee
and you will pay for any damage to the motor yourself
Thats a fact

The Tuning Box (or Power Box) is a bad idea if you care about your car. The Box does the trick by altering the signals from the engine's sensors to the ECU. What's the point of having an ECU if you're feeding it the wrong information?! Because of that, the risk of damaging your engine is greater then by remapping the injection table of the ECU.

BTW, Pete's answers to FAQ = marketing BS. But it's understandable... Since those Boxes are cheap to make and they sell them for a lot of money... they'll say anything to get you to buy them. My advice is... DON'T!
