New Master RWD

Renault is continuing to renew its range of light commercial vehicles with New Master RWD. Available mid-year, New Master RWD has all the qualities of the front-wheel drive New Master models launched in Autumn 2006 and retains all of its singular assets, notably a wide choice of versions (from 3.5 metric tons to 6.5 metric tons), twinned wheels and reinforced chassis.
This new vehicle is being launched at the same time as the Batilly plant, which manufactures Master and Master RWD in eastern France, is celebrating a new production record, increasing output from 117,000 units in 2005 to 120,000 units in 2006.

Modern and functional partner

New Master RWD shares all the advantages of New Master. It has a modern and comfortable cabin boasting ergonomic design and features equipment to make onboard living easier, such as automatic windscreen wipers with a rain sensor, automatic low-beam lights, selective door openings with a three-button key, and a “see me home” headlight function.
The vehicle has new stowage compartments, notably an A4-document holder on the central console and wide ceiling racks, together with new upholstery in dark blue fabric.

Upgraded engines and gearboxes for enhanced performance

New Master RWD ships with the 3.0 dCi engine produced as part of the alliance with Nissan. Compliant with Euro IV standards, this unit exists in two versions, 130 hp (300 Nm torque) and 150 hp (350 Nm torque), both mated to the new 6-speed manual gearbox.
The powertrain of New Master RWD has also been significantly upgraded, with new DANA drive axles and maintenance-free cartridge bearings. These systems provide differental lock and bring the 3.5-ton models increased ground clearance. The brakes have been optimized with new-generation ABS and emergency brake assist (EBA).

Renault Master RWD, a real customized tool

Renault offers a huge choice of body-engine combinations to better respond to the
specific needs of each of its customers.
- The van version provides a made-to-measure combination of gross vehicle weight and two lengths.
- The large volume version has all the assets of the van plus effective volume of 20 m3 or 22 m3.
- The single and double chassis cab combination responds to specific customer requirements.
- The dumpster version, with a single or double cab and equipped with radiator protection, is intended for moderate use.
- The large dumpster version, with a single or double cab, is intended for more intensive use. It is fitted with special equipment such as subframe protection and construction tires.
New Master RWD is available in five versions: van, large-volume van, dumpster and large dumpster version, chassis cab. Its chassis enables multiple conversions and offers unprecedented versatility for all types of needs: open or covered transport of goods; insulated/refrigerated transport; workshop transport. In all, New Master RWD is available in over 20 combinations.

At end 2006, Renault strengthened its third-place position in the European van
market

With Master, Trafic, Kangoo and its fleet models, Renault has been the top-selling light commercial vehicle brand in Europe for nine years, with more than 15% market share.
Phase II Master, launched at end 2003, totally renewed van segment fundamentals with its innovative safety equipment, including emergency brake assist (EBA) – a segment exclusive – ABS with electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD), and four largesized brake discs. Renault also paid close attention to the van’s ergonomics, with functional and practical equipment like the bench desk (a first in the segment) and the reversing radar, making Master a robust and attractive partner for professional customers.
In 2005, the Batilly plant reported a production record, with 117,000 units. It set a new record of 120,000 units in 2006.
