anybody can say in a few words how to mount and remove the original DACIA luggage rack (two bars), what tools are needed, etc?

have it on my car myself, but have never removed it after the shop put it on. know it took only 5 minutes, but was not there to see it.

and now i am supposed to explain this to a friend of mine!

greetings - heinz -

When you bend (flip over) the rubber that goes over the bar fixture you will see the socket head screws that you need to unscrew. That's all there is to it.

Can you provide some photos, possibly close-ups, for this might be useful for many users?

Why not, but basically the whole thing is loosening four bolts. The only thing is that the bolts are not visible because the rubber that goes around the doors covers them. I can take a few photos.

OK, so here are the pictures. I think it's really simple. In total you have to screw in or unscrew 8 socket head screws.

As you can all see I have put nail polish on one of my fingers recently smile.gif

Does anyone know, is there an alternative luggage rack that can be fitted instead of the Dacia original?

And also what is the maximum weight that the original rack (or the roof top) can support?

I don't know about another rack, but the max weight is written on the rack. It's something around 80 kg.

80 kilos total, or 80+80, per each of the bars?

Yes, find any rack with wide basement (about 10 cm), drill two holes and that's all.

@novauto
I can't believe that you are serious. There is more to it than just drilling a couple of holes.

I was hoping that there was some standard regarding this matter. Or at least, an idependant manufacturers initiative.

Thanks again to a resourcefull Stu smile.gif

Sure enough, it was not hard to find a kit that fits Dacia Logan, complete with mounting instructions (http://82.145.131.168/fitguide/pdf/Kit%201378.PDF)
But, this kit actually has worse characteristics than original Dacia rack (max load 50 kg vs 80 kg, only 1 screw per mounting point), and it costs more! It's only advantage is flexibility, but only if you have another car beside Dacia biggrin.gif

Yes, I am very serious. I have made my rack like that. I took old rack, remove bottom part (there is no need for it) drill 8 holes (two for each holder) and finished.

Well, good luck with it, I hope you have done something to protect the paint!

Original holes on the roof has some kind of "distance ring" so there is no contact between car (paint) and rack. I added rubber as additional security.
