WORLD SERIES BY RENAULT: ALREADY, 1.5 MILLION

SPECTATORS HAVE TURNED OUT TO SHARE RENAULT'S

PASSION FOR MOTOR SPORT!

Now in its third season, the World Series by Renault continues to enjoy burgeoning popular support. With 325,000 turning up to witness the first three meetings of the season (Zolder, Nürburgring and Budapest), the WSR events, which combine top-class motor sport action with attractions aimed at the general public, have proven to be an inspired concept. There is as much to see on the track, with three international championships and demonstrations by ING Renault F1 Team and Renault Heritage, as there is in the paddock, with a host of themed attractions dedicated to Renault's unique passion for all things automotive, as well as concerts designed to appeal to a wider audience than motor sport enthusiasts alone. The meetings are open to anyone with an invitation, which can be picked up free-of-charge throughout the Renault dealer network.

World Series by Renault: over 1,500,000 spectators since 2005!

Launched in 2005, the World Series by Renault concept is unprecedented in Europe. It allies high-quality sporting action with a wide range of attractions designed to appeal not only to motor sport buffs but to a much broader audience.
The centrepiece of these 100% Renault weekends are races from three extremely competitive international motorsport championships. The main event is the World Series Formula Renault 3.5, in which thirty young guns aspiring to a future in Formula 1 go head-to-head in identical 425hp single-seaters. Most of these competitors graduate from the World Series' feeder competition, the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0. The car used in this competition is the very same model in which Lewis Hamilton, Kimi Raikkonen and Felipe Massa all cut their teeth. Last but not least is the competition most readily identified with the Renault brand, the Eurocup Mégane Trophy, which features around twenty drivers from a variety of backgrounds.

Between races, the on-track action continues, with ING Renault F1 Team demonstrations, and parades of vintage vehicles celebrating occasions such Renault's 30th anniversary in Formula 1 and the International Gordini Revival, a trip down memory lane to the days of the R8 Gordini Cup!

In the paddock, the attractions are laid out in the same way as a theme park, with three main themes: Sport, Family, and Innovation & Technology. Attractions include designer demonstrations, pit stop challenges, driving simulators, road safety workshops, exhibitions of the Renault range, concerts, fun-fairs, etc. Access to the events is free to anyone with an invitation, which can be collected from throughout the Renault dealership network and its commercial partners.

The first three rounds of the World Series by Renault 2007, held in Belgium (Zolder), Germany (Nürburgring) and Hungary (Budapest), showed the appeal of the concept, drawing over 108,000 spectators on average. Since the World Series was created, the meetings have attracted over 1.5 million spectators in total.

World Series Formula Renault 3.5: one eye on Formula 1

The most prestigious category on show at the meetings, the World Series Formula Renault 3.5 is full of drivers looking to emulate 2005 champion Robert Kubica by making the step up to Formula 1. Their cars are powered by 425hp V6 engines. German driver Sebastian Vettel current leads the overall standings, while Renault Driver Development driver Ben Hanley also competes in this category.

A New Formula Renault 3.5 car will be used in 2008. The new chassis, inspired by the design of the Renault F1 R27, will be powered by a 500hp V6 flex-fuel engine.
Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0: breeding the champions of tomorrow Designed as a training vehicle for young drivers graduating from the world of karting, Formula Renault 2.0 is the biggest-selling single-seater in the world, with more than 700 units sold since 2000. The Eurocup is effectively the world championship for the category, with competitors from every continent. Nine of the competition's 38 drivers belong to training schemes set up by F1 teams.

Eurocup Mégane Trophy: spectacular, exciting races

With a look inspired by the DTM and a 330hp V6 engine, Mégane Trophy is unquestionably the crowd's favourite. The ‘mini-endurance’ races can be quite spectacular, with plenty of overtaking and lighting-fast pit stops!

Upcoming meetings: September 8-9: Donington (United Kingdom) – September 22-23: Magny-Cours (France) – October 20-21: Estoril (Portugal) – October 27-28: Barcelona (Spain).

There is also an Asian Formula Renault V6 championship.
On the saloon front, over 300 Clio Cup vehicles have already been sold since 2006, and seven championships have been set up, in Germany, Spain, France, the United Kingdom, Italy, the Netherlands and Switzerland. Logan Cup, available in Track, Tarmac Rally and Gravel Rally versions, is used in Germany, Romania and Russia.
