Just one question guys.
On which planet do you live?
Ain't there no cops at all?!

Almost all those "rockets" at 160+ kmph would be caught in Estonia, and you'd have not just fifteen minutes of fame promised by Andy Warhole but the whole evening of fame. Your story would be printed white on black in the evening news.

I'm what Australians call a Volvo driver: town 50/70, highway 90/110 (e.g. always within speed limits).

Ciao
*

I never think about the speed limits unless I actually see some cops on the road, but reasonable driving is something we should all do. Speeds over 150 kmh is not something for a Logan. !50 kmh is fine on a highway when I don't think about the fuel consumption, the noise is just too much.

I hope after all this discussion everybody should know that speedometer is only an informational indication, and is not intended to be considered a precise instrument, in any car, not just Dacia Logan. In fact, it has an intentional drift towards higher values then real. Knowing that, one could also justly ask if 170 km/h in one car is even the same real speed as 170 km/h in the other, that is, are the drifts at least consistent, and are the speeds that people here brag about even comparable biggrin.gif?!

But, there is another not so obvious instrument for measuring speed - average speed indication from the onboard computer! It would be interesting to establish a fact if it also has the positive drift. I have a hunch from my own experience driving on the highway that it is actually free from the drift, because although I was driving constantly between 120 and 130 km/h, it was indicating "only" somewhere in-between 110 and 115 km/h.

So, I thought of a way to test it. The test requires 1 long (the longer - the better), level, and strait stretch of road, preferably highway, with as little traffic as possible. You hit the road, speed up to at least 120 km/h (the faster – the better, the drift is easier to spot at higher speeds), reset the OBC, and tune it to average speed indication. Then you try to drive as long as you can, that is, the road or traffic allows you, maintaining constant speed on the speedometer as humanly possible biggrin.gif. Then just as you see that you cannot continue at constant speed any more, note the average speed indication on the display, and report it to us all here as soon as you can! biggrin.gif

Stu, you tend to oversimplify things! radmasa.gif

My proposal is for POOR people, who buy Logans! biggrin.gif (otherwise, they would already be driving some other model with GPS installed biggrin.gif)

Anyway, isn't it interesting and more fun to learn something new about your car?! biggrin.gif

But, if you still insist on GPS, we can always compare what we got to the GPS readings. biggrin.gif

BTW, could you lend me your GPS for testing, I'll return it to you on Tuesday rolleyes.gif biggrin.gif?

With a price of 1.57 Euro a liter of Super-gasoline( RON 98) here in Holland, I am unaware of the max. speed of my 1.4 Laureate...Fuelconsumption at max. speed will lead to a hole in my wallet.

He does not mean Super Plus he means Super Ron 98 there is a very minimal difference in power with the two and I drive in the UK with 95
and I noticed the difference in pulling power when I returne to the continent and use the 98

I think that they must show a bit more than you are actually driving. But don't see the point in using a GPS, what could I do with the precise data of my speed (135,42 km/h). It serves no purpose.

@ Boris
What I mean by the GPS is to get a friend with a hand held GPS and just check your speeds like for 30kmh 50 80 100 120 and top speed
once you have done this you will know just how fas you CAN drive in town and
on the highway ..It does regester slower anyway so you wont get any fines
Try it Stu

Yes, this is it. Difference is about 10% (i.e speedometer shows 120 km/h,but GPS shows 110 km/h).
Most modern car works like that - for safety.

That was silly (admit it ) for safety Would it not be safer to make the speedo show the correct speed ?
Most modern cars work like this because of lots of different factors one of them is tyre size .Some of you drive with 14" and some with 15" and this makes a difference to your Speedo
Stu

Go herre and use the speedo converter

160 km/h with a Dacia Logan 1,4 with airconditioning on, it could have reached 180 km/h (on the indicator) in my opinion.

and, 190 km/h with a Dacia Logan 1,6 16v 105 HP - this is from the category "don't do this at home", I was at a test, and i wanted to see how fast it went, but the car was terible.

i just sold my Logan, and ordered a Kia c'eed.

Logan is a good car in eastern europe, but a german or a frenchman, who buys a Logan is really dumb, or somewhere smarter than the one that buys a chinese thing with four wheels (those things can't be called cars, it's an insult even to the Ford T)

HY to all of you.In connection to Logan,I need a qualified opinion next to injection computer programming........until now I wasn't able to catch the maximum speed with my Logan 1,4..... In the 4-th at 5400 r/mim I have 145 km/h,to much for the 4-th and when I change into the 5-th,the speed falls down to 120 maximum 130 km/hour and stays there, although the pedal is a 1/3-rd to the floor...... All the ignition components and sensors functions have been checked and in normal status found....... So nobody can tel me what do I have to do in this situation...Do I have to reset the injection computer ? Even from the "service" they left me "in no mans land......In this peculiar situation there are a few LOGAN cars from the local Road Police...they can't run over 120-130 km/h..... blush.gif

I would try this out !!
Disconect the battery to the car for at least one hour .Even better would be overnight
Now your Cars Computer will have reverted to its Defaults
(DO NOT FORGET TO TAKE A NOTE OF YOUR RADIO CODE )
