Hi....
Can some body help me out in this. I have observed pecular thing in my Logan. The coolent level is reduced drastically from Max level to almost Min. level in just 5 days of driving (approx.165 kms). There was no reduction in coolent level in previous 1600 kms. Has any other loganite faced similar problem?

Which type of the coolent, engine oil, is used in Logan 1.4 GLX sad.gif

Take off the oil filler cap and check it for a creamy slimy substance
also check that the OIL level hasnt gone UP
this could be cylinder head gasket ....Do you have a lot of steamy (white ) smoke from exhaust ?

Before getting frightened be sure you looked at the coolant level under the same circumstances. The level may vary over the half of the distance between Max and Min. I made these two pictures for you:

The first was made with the engine semi-hot (had two stripes at the temperature gauge), the second after I drove about 1km. But the level can vary more than in these pics.

When I got my car the coolant level was at the green hand-drawn marker (above Max), but after a couple of hundred of kilometers it got between Min and Max.

Anyway, keep your eye on the level and if it gets under Min take a quick visit to the workshop, it's a warranty case.

If the car is brand new, it is possible that some air pockets are getting out, so fluid level is lowering.

In first 10.000 km mine fluid level came from max to almost min, and in service I had it refilled. Since then, no fluctuations are present.

Contact service only if it gets below min.

summary:

- the coolant level only settles on a brandnew car after a few hundred kms, on and offs, normal

- it can change dramatically (from full max to min and back) when engine is cold to when it heats up,
specially during the heating up period (first 5 minutes, thermostats adjusting)

- most workshops (not only DACIA) recommend to check fluid levels (any) only after car has been
parked overnight, or at least for 3+ hours, and is on the same level ground always. only then do
you get comparative and meaningful readings and indications of changes.

hope this helps.

There is nothing wrong with change, if it is in the right direction. Thats why the British drive on the left.
