it should take gases out from the battery under the car, so that they don't corode the BIW (Suposition, I can't yet see your pictures, but if it's a black rifled plastic hose that's it). It should go to a hose barb either on the battery or on the underside of the battery tray.

It's not black rifled, it's grey smooth hose.

QUOTE(einstein1984 @ 26 Mar 2024, 08:17) it should take leakage out from the battery under the car, so that they don't corode the BIW (Suposition, I can't yet see your pictures, but if it's a black rifled plastic hose that's it). It should go to a hose barb either on the battery or on the underside of the battery tray. In case the battery boils, the liquid drains out through that hose. That hose is inserted into the plastic tray under the battery. This post has been edited by IRONICK: 26 Mar 2024, 11:32 |

It's the drain hose from the battery tray.Screenshot_20240326_112733_Opera.jpg ( Size: 226.69k )

But it shouldn't dangle like that under the car, maybe an inch or so, are you sure it is not detached from the tray? Did you pull it? |

I didn't touch the hose, it's not easily accessible.
Where exactly does that hose should be? Can I put it back myself, without going to the car service? This post has been edited by moxb: 26 Mar 2024, 12:58 |

If you disconnect the battery and remove the clamp that holds it down, than lift the battery up, you'll see the tray. Lift the tray and see a nipple at the bottom, where the hose is supposed to be connected. Its a tight fit, no thread or such. Simply push the hose onto the drain nipple. The hose is quite stiff.

OK, thanks.
I'll try to put it back without removing the battery, it's rather inaccessible, but I have long arms, so maybe I can squeeze it in, though I am not sure where that tray exactly is. |

The battery SITS in the tray. If the hose was not to be attached to the tray, it would have long be gone. Maybe yours is simply a bit longer.

I will check that.
Nevertheless, it's not critical, it will not cause any problems driving the car. |
