UCH (Unite Controle Habitacle) for Logan has the facility, uninstalled, to start the wipers temporized after the windscreen has been washed by windscreen washer pump, as on Clio Symbol.
There are two fazes:
1. When you set the pressure for about one second (anyway, under 3 seconds) on the wiper control stalk to actionate the windscreen washer pump, the wipers start automatically and wipe one time the windscreen.
2. When you set the pressure for three seconds or more on the wiper control stalk to actionate the windscreen washer, the wipers start automatically and wipe three times the windscreen.
Both ways of wiping functions start after 1 or 2 second of delay, during this time the windscreen washer pump “watering” the windscreen to avoid scratches due to dust etc.

Theoretical principles:
1. The control pin for that is pin number A7 on UCH. If it gets 12+ volts for a second (or less and no more than 3 seconds), it commands the wipers to wipe once. If the 12+ Volts are more than 3 seconds, it commands the wipers to wipe for 3 times.

Practical implementation:
1. Put an end of a wire (uninsolated) in A7 connector (position as in “0 scheme UCH.gif”) – as can be seen in “3 pozitionare pin 7.jpg”. The A7 pin is on the 40 pins connector of UCH - EH1 - the smaller one, not the big white one. A7 pin can be found in the brown part of the 40-track connector (the 40-track connector is made actually of two independent 20-track connectors, one green and one brown, as can be seen in “2 Alcatuire mufa.jpg”).
There is no need to extract the UCH from its place, only the connector should be extracted. The brown 20-track connector can be seen in “1 Mufa de scos.jpg”
2. The other end of the wire connected to UCH in this way is pulled up to the wiper control stalk and is connected to pin number 4 of wiper control stalk connector (the fourth from right to left, upper row, as you look from driver’s seat to the dashboard - this one pin actually gives 12+ Volts to windscreen washer pump - . In the image “4 Mufa maneta.jpg” can be seen the way I did that.

Success!

Thanks,

Usefull information.

After the car arrives I will se if I will do anything myself in the warranty period because I'm not sure about the reaction to the interventions in wiring. Thet can always be done after the waranty period.

Salutare!

A few words `bout wipers cool.gif .
Because the high-ascending position of the right wiper (looking from driver’s seat) is not completely within area of the left one there is always a certain amount of liquid which remains on the windscreen after it has been washed & wiped… and goes down… and goes down for minutes…As for myself this is rather annoying, unpleasant, uncomfortable provoking…By the way,the same is on neighbour`s Ford Focus.
I mention such problem does not exist on my old car.
I dare say that the wipers should have been made or harmonized better. excl.gif

just an illustration, not piece of art…

It was the same on my Matiz. But I bought longer wiper blades and now they work ok, so I suspect the same could be true for the Logan; or you could try to adjust the left wiper to a higher resting position, so its trace will completely overlap with the right trace.
It seems some car manufacturers are now in the habbit of designing the wipers for a certain length, then they fit in shorter wiper blades to eek out a few f***ing cents sad.gif

I think that doesn`t make sense.

There is possibility to elevate right one but I wonder if anybody would drive

gorgeous,brand-new car with wipers like this: wacko.gif

Thanks Klaus for the insight about windscreen wipers. I just wired the connection on my Logan and it works just as you said it wold an as same as in my frends Clio.
However the collors of the wires on the wiper control stalk connector are not the same collor as the one on you'r picture's, (maybe the collors differ from model to model I have Logan 1,6 Laureate pack), but after a little counting i managed to do the installation.
Thank's again it's really helpful function, and it was very nice of you that you decidet to share this kind of information with others.

There is no led on the bord...
There are two type of dashboards, for entry level models, and for the others.
On entry-level leds are missing...

If LED is missing only it is not a problem. But does other wiring is missing also?

I have "implemented" myself the procedure described by Klaus and it works.

Some improvements, tips and tricks:
- I have used a wire from an old mouse, because it has an adapter for fitting the pin 7 of the UCH
- I have found a solution to connect this new wire on the pin 4 of the wiper stalk connector WITHOUT BREAKING THE ISOLATION of the existing wire for controlling the wipers:
- pull out the existing wire of pin 4 (first pull out as much as possible the black side of the wiper connector stalk)
- it has an adapter at the end for fitting the pin 4; this adapter has a hole which I have used to connect the new wire
- I have reinserted the existing wire in the connector with the new wire attached and it worked.

I remind here that the first things to be done before acting on the wires are:
- remove the key from the contact
- remove the safety fuses from the left panel, as described in the first image of Klaus

Thank you Klaus for your guidelines!

Good luck

Is the "Wiper control stick", not "stalk", and is the stick on the right of the steering wheel!

Best regards. biggrin.gif

The UCH modification works for MCV phase I and II and the Duster (all tested and confirmed on Laureate versions).

Did it as well last night. It's not necessary to take out de UCH, only the plug (but it's a b!tch to take it out in the first place).
I used a connector from a floppy drive for the brown plug and some ethernet wire (not the whole cable) which I've just spun around a couple of times around the connector in the wipers command unit. Worked like a charm.

Honestly now, if the function's there, why not activate it in the first place. Do they really think people are going to think "hmm, I'd buy a Clio but... Hey, look the Logan also has auto wipers when washing the windshield, let's buy that!" ?
