things like this, please indicate this is just fun - otherwise people might take you serious.

>> my penny has not dropped

suggest you try rial instead (i guess it was dinar a while back).

seriously, jane-man, we are talking about a LOGAN. who and what for would
you need such struts? the roads where the car is built (and built for) are worse
than the zahedan-quetta stretch, and it proves to be a solid car there.

it is not meant to be a race car, either. cornering at what speed? it behaves
well enough on german autobahns - just ask our racing driver stu.

so, now you lost your rial - it must have dropped.

greetings - heinz

I have just got to have my word here as well !!
i hope the Penny has dropped now
What is that thing going over your engine ???? it looks like someone has tried to pull the two sides together after an accident and what a game when you want to change your air filter
the Logan handels fine as it is ! it is not a sports car and you will find it is as good as most SUVs on bad roads in fact it has a realy good suspension .It has to when my Mother in Law is in the Boot (oops Back seat)

Thx Stu radmasa.gif well... that's not my car ,because i'm not as tasteful as u to choose red sleep.gif . right now in Kerman the temp is in 30s(mind u these last days has become relatively cool)and my practical and actual choice is white.will post some pics soon.as to changing air filters mine is vertical near back of the engine,so if i decide to install such a big joke i will have no problem with changing air filter.thx anyway cool.gif

Do you drive a petrol or a Diesel ? cool.gif
as for the colour red is a super colour for the Logan
but in a hot country like yours I must agree that white is best for you
What do you pay per litre of fuel (In Euro ) ??

Here is a photo of my FIRST Dacia Logan

aali, one thing i appreciate very much: you keep your humor, even though my
answers were a bit sarcastic and one sided.

to one of your questions: yes and almost yes, but no. figure that out. and it
started a very long time ago. i was even part of the IR car industry, once.

and if you can find any person in your surroundings (but commercial drivers) that
have crossed iran more often, from the very west to the very east, from top to
bottom, more often than me, you could consider yourself lucky.

back to cars: the logan was designed with a few things in mind, all governed by
budget, and that it does amazingly well. the version of eastern europe is like
the ones you get in iran, some 2-4 cm higher than the west european version,
and also a bit strengthened in some sensitive locations, the underside is almost
flat, no exhaust hanging down, no shock absorbers sticking out.

so do yourself a favour, after you are familar with the car, and take it on a track
where other people will say only a 4WD will do. do it carefully, and with sense,
and you will see how well it behaves. you and your friends will be amazed. i
drive a lada NIVA as a second car, i think i know the difference.

then also take it, with reasonable load of 2-3 people, on a trial of fast cornering on
a road that permits this without dangers, and again you will notice that any struts
or similar will not be needed.

THEN compare it to the price you paid, and THEN you will be a proud logan owner.
whatever your neighbors say ...

all our now 20 logans are white, same reason, heat, but also the fact that of the
'cheap' colors the white was the one with the least problems. talk to some of the
people who have grey or silver metallic, and you know what i mean.

long post, eh? what i am trying to say: stay with us, aali, we need people like you
here. even if we always dont agree on all points.

greetings - heinz -

PS: for yr info, i still do have some old dinar coins somewhere about.

dear Stu and heinz firstly thank u both for accepting me as an equal,u both have been suuuuuuuuper.these days being an iranian is not easy bcause everybody thinks u r a happy trigger bearded terrorist and blah blah blah.as u rightly guessed heinz if u aren't funny in this day and age u couldn't handle the stresses u would age prematurely and the end of story..... .thx for ur knowledgible inputs because they are appretiated and noted.xcss [/An expatriate (in abbreviated form, expat) is a person temporarily or permanently residing in a country and culture other than that of the person's upbringing or legal residence] this explains Stu as for heinz he means he is a german national residing inside germany, well for me it means i love my country so much that i wouldn't ever dream of leaving it.i think these explanations solve ur dillema.heinz i forgot dinar=iraq, rial=iran .thx again guys anytime ,anytime. biggrin.gif

P.S. Stu i drive a petrol 1.6 16V 105hp about fuel price i would open a new topic soon. cu

aali, i would raise you to PattyPat if i could:

>> heinz i forgot dinar=iraq, rial=iran

because here you are wrong. nowadays, yes. but i was referring to long time ago, and then it
was 1 RIAL = 100 DINAR. yes, in your lovely (no cynism here) country. and then, to fully
confuse everybody, we even forgot the tooman.

and just as a personal note: i am NOT living (and not having been for a very long time) in
germany, or europe proper, even, ever, never have, never (hopefully) will. and as far as that
difficult country you were talking about goes, my most favorite were pure desert cities.
so now you can guess...

greetings - heinz

PS: and the funny part is, that EX PAT stew actually does live in germany. with a german
wife, would that make him a NO PAT ?

PSS: as for talking about fuel consumtion and prices, suggest you add to the topic just below
right now. when talking fuel prices, please please dont be to hard on these kharegees: they
will start crying when they hear your prices.

And I AM Living and have been doing so since I was born radmasa.gif
I reside in Germany But not because I do not like my country .I love the UK and its wierd and wonderfull people biggrin.gif
I asked you about removing the airfilter and you said its Long and at the back of the Engine ????? the air filter is round and sits on top of the Engine blush.gif

As for Iran !!We all make the same footprints in the sand .We are all humans and most of us have to do as we are told by our "So called" leaders .But with the help of the wonderfull WWW we can meet each other on our own terms and express our views on life .I like to do this and I know our Globetrotter Heinz does as well
So Aali keep on popping in and dont forget have a look under the bonnet and check the airfilter (When I say Air filter I mean for the motor and not for the inside of your car)

before i embark on explaining our fuel prices i advise all readers to take their heart pills or some such medication ohmy.gif .oh yeh ,at first because of smuggling fuel to turkey, pakistan, afghanistan and possibly russia the gov started rationing fuel and later on "Cause of UN embargo,so the newest rules r as follows: all iranian passenger cars below 2000 cc and all foreign imports from 5 years ago onward below 1300 cc have a ration of 100 lit of unleaded petrol monthly at roughly 0.07 euro (yes u r reading right) per lit by the use of a smart card all else can use unlimited unleaded permium at 0.40 euro per lit.as for diesel fuel it is unlimited at roughly 0.01 euro but still with a smart card.Stu i hastily took pictures of my dirty engine which i'm ashamed of "Cause i have just returned from a 200 km round trip to a high plateau dessert where i oversee pistachio orchards.the place where my finger is pointing at is my air cleaner housing.all iranian logans from the simplest to the high ends use the same 1.6 lit 16 valve engine.hope it helps biggrin.gif

Regarding the stiffness of the Logan's chasy...

Every morning when I come to work I have a hard time finding a parking place, so any with enough space to squeeze Logan in is good enough if it won't get picked up by a parking service truck (in Serbia we call them "spider").

And so one morning I found one such tight and awkward parking space, squeezed my Logan in, and hurried to work, not bothering to look back...

In the afternoon, going back from work, I come to the car, take a brief glance, and what do I see! Left back wheel is hanging in the air, off the ground!!! It's been standing there like so the whole day!

Expecting a reaction from Heinz, yes, I know this is not good... biggrin.gif
After that episode I take more care... smile.gif

no my dear, this IS good. shows a how solid the chassis is, and also that
the wheels have a certain down-limit of travel (which many cars dont have),
which in turn is a most useful thing on really bad roads. it does have disadvantages,
too, but they are minimal.

but the main question remains: what happened that you had to work an entire day?

>> I come to the car, take a brief glance

and this i also know is not true: when YOU come back to the car, you inspect it top
to bottom, left to right, front to rear, before even thinking of opening the door.

What I meant was that it was not good for the car, standing on just 3 wheels for so long, the load on the tyres increases, and also on the shock absorbers.

But somehow I have a feeling that Heinz already knew what I meant, so this little explanation is for the sake of other readers... wink.gif

Heinz, in my firm when they send me on a task to some other place on the territory we are responsible for, driving to and from that place they don't count me as (real) work! wink.gif So I have to make up for that in the office! wink.gif biggrin.gif
