Why I'm doing the Wall again now ???

” What it comes down to for me is this: Will the technologies of communication in our culture, serve to enlighten us and help us to understand one another better, or will they deceive us and keep us apart?”

I believe this is still a supremely relevant question and the jury is out. There is a lot of commercial clutter on the net, and a lot of propaganda, but I have a sense that just beneath the surface understanding is gaining ground. We just have to keep blogging, keep twittering, keep communicating, keep sharing ideas.

30 Years ago when I wrote The Wall I was a frightened young man. Well not that young, I was 36 years old.

It took me a long time to get over my fears. Anyway, in the intervening years it has occurred to me that maybe the story of my fear and loss with it’s concomitant inevitable residue of ridicule, shame and punishment, provides an allegory for broader concerns.: Nationalism, racism, sexism, religion, Whatever! All these issues and ‘isms are driven by the same fears that drove my young life.

This new production of The Wall is an attempt to draw some comparisons, to illuminate our current predicament, and is dedicated to all the innocent lost in the intervening years.

In some quarters, among the chattering classes, there exists a cynical view that human beings as a collective are incapable of developing more ‘humane’ ie, kinder, more generous, more cooperative, more empathetic relationships with one another.

I disagree.

In my view it is too early in our story to leap to such a conclusion, we are after all a very young species.

I believe we have at least a chance to aspire to something better than the dog eat dog ritual slaughter that is our current response to our institutionalized fear of each other.

I feel it is my responsibility as an artist to express my, albeit guarded, optimism, and encourage others to do the same. To quote the great man, ” You may say that I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one.”

Am fost aseara la JON BOVI (sa vada sotia minunea)... am asistat la unul dintre cele mai tari concerte la care am fost... poate cel mai tare... Super atmosfera, trupa serioasa, profesionisti adevarati, public neasteptat de civilizat si cunoscator (chiar daca am vazut in public, prin marea de unghii rosii, si omuleti veniti de la cules de porumb). A inceput la 8 fix fix si din punctul meu de vedere (eu n-am ascultat de buna voie 3 melodii Jon Bovi in viata mea) concertul a inceput la bis... o ora de super show. Frumos...

Inca ceva interesant. Bulgarii s-au mutat cu totii in Bucuresti. Atatia bulgari stransi la un loc n-am vazut nici la Sofia smile.gif

PS: Ca atmosfera mi s-a parut peste AC/DC. Asta cred ca se datoreaza numarului mare de femei smile.gif .


Acum sper ca voi trai sa vad si U2 in Romania.

pai si mie-mi place mai mult "Banica Jr." decat Bon Jovi... dar combinatia intre Cantaret si public a fost fantastica... showul (public + prestatie) a fost peste tot ce am vazut pana acum in RO (metallica X 2, AC/DC, Judas, Rammstein, Iris, Directia 5.. tongue.gif ). Ce a cantat baiatu' ala e alta poveste.. eu zic strict de ATMOSFERA...

Aseara am fost la UDO in Silver Church (Preoteasa adica sic), la misto, gandeam ce sa mai cante tataie la 60 de ani insa dupa aproape 2,5 ore de MUZICA zik de 2 ori SIBP:
- primo: cine se respecta se respecta (era sa moara pe scena saracu, la scos sala la 4 bisuri si el a venit) concert deosebit printre cele mai bune in sala la care am fost;
- secundo: sunt din ce in ce mai putini rockeri in tara asta ... in curand se vor tine concerte in bai de bloc si va mai ramane loc ...

Nota bene: putini da buni - sala vie cu versurile si melodiile la ei -

ce detalii vrei de la un concert de metal greu? au dat roacarii din plete, s-a consumat bere in draci (dupa o ora de Amarth nu mai era bere) si cortul de la Arene a fost plin... nimic iesit din comun, doar atat.. Amon e una din trupele bune de metal...
