pt cei care nu apreciaza masinile acestea..inainte de a spune ceva aiurea ar trebui sa se gandeasca de doua ori..poate datorita acelui volvo avem centuri de siguranta..airbaguri..sisteme ABS...nu toate din cauza acestui model dar mai inainte de masinile actuale cu jdemii cp, jdemii sisteme siguranta..au fost acestea..vechiturile..cum spun unii..si nu numai volvo ci si mercedes, bmw, audi...am avut ocazia sa merg cu un volvo seria 940 sau 950 sper sa nu gresesc..break..si vreau sa spun ca e absolut minunat..nici nu isi arata varsta..cred ca era de prin '95..'96..si mergea brici...cei drept am mers in italia..nu romania..oricum..RESPECT pentru aceste masini.

Ford  built an experimental fleet of cars with airbags  in 1971, followed by General Motors in 1973 on Chevrolet vehicles. In 1974, GM made dual-stage twin front airbags optional in full-size Buick, Cadillac and Oldsmobile models and called them the "Air Cushion Restraint System". The early fleet of experimental GM vehicles equipped with airbags experienced seven fatalities, one of which was later suspected to have been caused by the airbag.





Anti-lock braking systems  were first developed for aircraft in 1929, by the French automobile and aircraft pioneer, Gabriel Voisin, as threshold braking an airplane is nearly impossible. An early system was Dunlop's Maxaret system, introduced in the 1950s and still in use on some aircraft models.

A fully mechanical system saw limited automobile use in the 1960s in the Ferguson P99 racing car, the Jensen FF and the experimental all wheel drive Ford Zodiac, but saw no further use; the system proved expensive and, in automobile use, somewhat unreliable. However, a limited form of anti-lock braking, utilizing a valve which could adjust front to rear brake force distribution when a wheel locked, was fitted to the 1964 Austin 1800.

Chrysler , together with the Bendix Corporation, introduced a true computerized three-channel all-wheel antilock brake system  called "Sure Brake" on the 1971 Imperial.[1] It was available for several years thereafter, functioned as intended, and proved reliable. General Motors introduced the "Trackmaster" rear-wheel (only) ABS as an option on their Rear-wheel drive Cadillac models in 1971.[2][3] Ford also offered a system called "Sure Trak"[when?] on the Lincoln Continental Mark III and the Ford LTD station wagon.

as alege la orice ora in favoarea unui bmw,audi,mertz..un volvo..un saab..un jaguar..mai sunt si alti producatori nu numai nemtii. acest volvo nu a fost cea mai buna masina dar a fost suficient de buna per total pt a fi tinuta minte si in ziua de azi comparativ cu modelele altor producatori din perioada respectiva.

E vorba aici de o masina clasica, si emblematica pentru vremea ei. Nu trebuie sa ne raportam neaparat la dotari, putere sau design ci la faptul ca pana la mijlocul anilor 90 masinile mai erau concepute cu pasiune...acum din pacate o masina este proiectata de departamentul marketing dupa ce si cum se vinde (sezitati ca e vorba de o ironie amara)...
Nu zic neaparat ca progresul sau "democratizarea" unor dotari e un lucru rau, dar asa cum zicea cineva sunt masini care au facut istorie si sunt masini care cand sunt scoase din productie nu si le mai aminteste nimeni...si exemple pot fi multe si mai noi si mai vechi (ex. Clio 1, Peugeot 305, R6, Seat Malaga/Ibiza1 etc.). Cu siguranta ca si modele contemporane vor ramane in amintiri peste timp, dar mult mai putine zic eu. Progresul rapid de azi le sterge repede stralucirea...

Desigur ca acum asistam si la o invazie de modele si la o innoire a gamei foarte rapida la toti constructorii. Inainte vreme despre un model se vorbea un an de la lansare, acum, cam 2 luni, dupa care trece in anonimat, existand pur si simplu (cu putine exceptii)... E pacat pentru pasiunea fata de automobil, dar e bine prin prisma faptului ca acum mult mai multi au acces la un mijloc de transport personal, modern, sigur si putin poluant...

Oricum salutara initiativa celui care a initiat topicul, prin care ne-a readus in atentie o masina care la vremea ei a reprezentat ceva pentru lumea automobilului. E unul din modelele care au nascut legenda "tancului suedez"...legenda care insa din pacate incepe sa apuna...ca multe aletele. Multumim!

Am avut ocazia sa conduc unul acum vreo 2 ani...

740 GLE...din cate stiu avea un motor destul de mare...ceva de genul 2.5 pe benzina si destui caluti

fabricata in `84 cu 450.000 km la bord si pot sa zic ca mergea impecabil...pe vremea aia aveam loganul si mi-sa parut extraordinara masina in comparatie cu a mea...

avea abs, airbag, servodirectie, scaune din piele, stergatoare la faruri si multe alte lucruri care in anii `80 erau de domeniul SF.

chiar am vrut sa imi cumpar una si sa o reconditionez..dar din pacate am observat ca pisele sunt destul de scumpe si o reconditionare ca la carte te duce la 15.000 euro....

un tanc de masina...dar superba...pacat ca nu se mai fac masini asa...poate A8-ul de acum va mai fi asa peste zeci de ani...
