Is the air filter properly fastened? I've had the same problem with my 1.4, the rattling "plasticy" noise was coming up past 3000 rpm (but not when revving the engine while standing) and I found that the air filter's case was loosely fastened to the engine.
It's just a problem of tightening the screws and eventually adding some rubber washers. |

It is lose timing belt! It can be haered only with WARM engine, also at parking, uncupled from any gear. You can try this when finish driving.
I have same problem. In service DIDN'T want to fix it ![]() ![]() what an idiots! Peja |

a loose timing belt? thats dangerous and stupid
plus there is not a chance in the world that the manufacturer would allow a belt to be too loose. Ill check the plastics for construction quality, if this doesnt solve the problem I'll get the belt cover of to have 3 Feb 2009, 19:31: a loose timing belt? thats dangerous and irresponsible on the account of the garage. hi
dacia english corner I tried this because this is the same problem that I have been experiencing, so far it seems to have solved te problem, I put some simple plastic in the gap and the sound is now very muffled, I still have to find some decent rubber to put in the gap but I'm verry happy I have found the problem! The diesel engine especially creates a lot of vibration at low revs, this combined with the pressure that you put on it when it has to pull the car at such low revs seems to generate enough of a buzz to get this little part of plastic to rattle against the body. I think this is a poor design flaw but I can imagine this to be overlooked, no big deal! grtz |

k, so bad luck, the noise came back very quickly, I don't know why it was gone but it doesn't have anything to do with the plastic bits apparently.
It can't be the air filter because in the diesel it isn't anywhere near where the sound is coming from, I can't even find the thing. I am very hesitant to check my cambelt cause Renault is known to break warranty whenever possible. So if anyone knows whats going on, please tell. I've contacted Renault's customer service for help, but I'm not expecting much, if they dont give the promised solution I guess all I can do is get the car back to the dealer and tell him to check the belt |

I've told you what can be. Check tension of distribution belt! Alo check oil leakage in that area.
Peja 26 Feb 2009, 23:37: Also could be: 1. metal cover under the engine. Some screws got loose! 2. plastic cover of wheel. Also some screw got loose or missing! final control (if there is any!?!?!) of vehicle in factory is VERY, VERY BAD! Peja This post has been edited by Peja: 26 Feb 2009, 22:37 |
