Fifth Gear was canceled today — it will not be back according to The Daily Mail. While the show obviously wasn’t as entertaining to watch as Top Gear, it’s still a shame in my opinion.

However, Jonny Smith has been tweeting:

To answer all the tweets about Fifth Gear ending – I don’t know who the Daily Mail talked to, but nothing is official. TV is a fickle world.

FG is always compared to the big-budget epic movie monster that is TG. It can’t and won’t ever be TG. FG was always more, well, grass roots.

Chiar imi pare rau, urmaream si Fifth Gear-ul. Avea alt stil, sigur nici pe departe la fel de "entertaining", dar era ok...

Tocmai faptul că au încercat să imite Top Gear le-a adus sfârșitul ca emisiune.
Însă sunt convins că vor reveni, sub un alt format, așa cum era inițial.

de condus conduc ei bine, deci meseria lor este de sofer (de curse sau nu).
ma racaia pe creier fiecare smiorcaiala a lui Tiff! parca era homosexual!
Vicky rade isteric si fara motiv si se vede ca se chinuie prea tare sa fie ceva ce...nu este.
toti aveau prestatie prefacuta, care mie nu mi`a placut absolut deloc! puteau sa faca o emisiune strict obiectiva referitor la masini, fara tentative penibile de entertainment. sa lase treaba asta celor de la TG care chiar se pricep.

fix cat platesc si ceilalti producatori ca sa le fie laudate masinile in emisiune la ei.

se zvonea ca va fi si intr-o emisiune la ei, prezentata mai serios... (da' cred ca e ~3% realizabil)

chiar ei (producatorii) recunosc faptul ca prezentarea anumitor masini in emisiune este sub forma de RECLAMA... (asa scria la sfarsitul emisiunii in sezoanele trecute). La Sandero or fi luat mai putin ptr. ca au distrus-o la final...
