Greetings from Ukraine.
I am going to buy Logan.
Because of its spaciness it is the leader of the choice
withing my price range.
As a former musisian the noise level is for me of the primary
importance.
Now i am choosing the version.
The only reason to buy maximum version is possible probability to
have better assembled car in means of noisyness.

Does such probability can be true, or it is of
no difference in assemblage quality among different versions?
Thanks.
Roman,
Lviv,Ukraine.

Well it depends, because I know that the Logan petrol versions have no factory isolation on th inside of the hood, but on the other hand Logan diesel versions have a material that is used as an insulation on the inside of the hood.
But some people say that the petrol versions don't need isolation anyways because they don't make as much nosie as diesel version.

- I don't think that there should be a diference in the amount of nosie in the petrol versions thought.
- In the diesel, well currently you only have one version to choose from, so etheir too much noise or just right.

There is no difference between versions regarding the noise!
Only between engines are differences in noise, the diesel engine is a bit noiser than the petrol engines.

DFA - don't be so sure. The diesel version has better noise isolation (i.e. it actually has some isolation smile.gif ). Just look under your hood and you will see.
But on the other hand - probably the diesel is noisier than the petrol engine - so the noise inside the car may be similar (I don't know, I didn't drive a Logan dci yet)

Except the engine noise - three different variant of noise smile.gif - the rest of the car isn't assembled different. Only that in versions with many "optionals" could be many future sources of noise.

I can confirm that between the petrol engines there are no differences regarding the interior noise level. If you are a former musician I presume that you will always listen some music while you're driving, so it won't make any difference at all.

It does make difference.
Roman is ex musician with sensitive ears (or seriously damaged hearing, perhaps electric guitars…)
willing to by `maximum level `( of equipment) hoping to get the lowest noise level which is of the primary importance.
Regarding that I have to say that top models come here, now, with Michelin tyres
which significantly improve driving characteristics and decrease noise level.
Roman has to check conditions in his country… cool.gif

Micheline or Continental, wich are both slick tires, for summer. So Roman has to change them for ucrainian winters.
For "ex musician" ears i recomend top version, for the CD player built in, instead of cassette player. The difference in fonic insolation between versions are non (for the same engine of course).

Thanks!!!

Thanks for your link, but I could not find an answer to my question.

"Meanwhile a revised design for the engine/transmission mating has resulted in improved acoustic comfort" - I guess this is the only line that suggest that Prestige version should be less noisy, but it does not say anything about isolation. I was more interested to hear from somebody who owns or drove Logan Prestige and can compare it with previous versions in this regard.

Yes, the prestige 105HP Logan I've seen in a Bucharest showroom does have all three noise insulators developed from the diesel version.

I have mounted a noise insulator from the hood and I have measured and compared the noise level. The reduction of the noise was of 3...5 dB between 3100 and 3500 rpm. It does matter, and if you want to mount such noise reductor price is starting from 50 Euro.

Thanks!
Now I have to find an answer to a more tricky question - does Logan MCV Laureate with 16V engine has this kind of isolation (as this is what I want to buy after it would get to our market)? Or is it exclusive to Logan Prestige?
In any case, thanks for your advice, I though these things are more expensive!

What type of noise insulation? Is it the one from the diesel version, and can that one be bought as a spare part?
