Logan – a programme focused firmly on Renault’s growth markets

• More than 300,000 Logans have been sold since the car's launch in September
2004 and up to the end of July 2006.
• The Logan programme enters a new phase with the introduction of Logan New
Collection and the Logan MCV estate.
• In 2007, seven countries will be manufacturing Logans. After Romania, Russia,
Colombia and Morocco, production of Logan is soon to begin in Iran, and then in India and Brazil in the course of 2007.

Logan meets the public’s wide-ranging expectations

Designed to match the demands of customers in the Renault Group’s new growth markets as closely as possible, Logan has already demonstrated its appeal across a wide-ranging customer base. In addition to playing an important role in the Renault Group’s international growth strategy, the Logan programme enters a new phase with the arrival of Logan New Collection and the Logan MCV estate. Logan MCV is the second model of the Logan programme which will go on to line up six vehicles as part of the Renault Commitment 2009.
It will be followed in 2007 by a light commercial vehicle derivative.
Between September 2004 and July 2006, 315,559 vehicles were sold in the 42 countries where the model is marketed. Logan spearheads the Dacia brand, except in Russia, Colombia, Venezuela and Ecuador where it is sold as a Renault.

Manufactured in close proximity to its markets, Logan has met with considerable success wherever it has been produced.

From January to July 2006, world sales totaled 147,522 units.
The EuroMed region, which hosts three of Logan's four current production sites (Romania, Russia and Morocco), accounts for 73 per cent of Logan sales worldwide. Romania is Logan's biggest market with sales of 60,541 vehicles between January and the end of July 2006. Logan alone holds 42 per cent of its home market. In Russia, 32,571 Logans have been sold since its launch in April 2005, including 25,514 between January and July 2006.
On the strength of this success, the Pitesti and Moscow plants are to increase their
production capacity. By the end of 2006, output at Pitesti in Romania will reach 235,000 units per annum, compared to the current figure of 200,000. In 2008, it will be further boosted to 350,000 units annually. Meanwhile, annual production at the Moscow facility will rise from 60,000 to 80,000 in 2007. Since March 2006, Dacia has been the best-selling brand in Morocco in terms of volume with more than 1,000 Logans sold monthly.
The Americas represent 5 per cent of Logan's worldwide sales. The principal market is Colombia, a country in which Logan is produced and where sales in 2006 total 3,550 vehicles.
Logan's success outside of the emerging markets has made it possible to be ahead of forecasts. In Europe and France, Logan sales are rising and currently account for 21 per cent of Logan sales worldwide. Between January and the end of July 2006, 17,644 Logans were sold in Europe (12 per cent), while 12,992 cars (9 per cent) were sold in France (1 per cent of the French market).
The rest of the world (Asia and Africa) currently represents 1 per cent of Logan sales.

Encouraging outlook

Currently produced in Romania, Russia, Colombia and Morocco, Logan will soon be
manufactured in Iran, followed by India and Brazil in 2007. In Iran, the two local automakers Saipa and Iran Khodro will produce Logan in their respective plants, while in India the agreement signed in March 2005 with Mahindra & Mahindra provides for the production of a right-hand-drive version of Logan.

Dacia and the Logan programme, the driving forces of the Renault
group's international growth

• 2006… a record year for Dacia.
• The Dacia range extended with the arrival of Logan MCV and Logan Van.
• With a total of 415,000 vehicles sold worldwide since its launch, the Logan programme makes a significant contribution to Renault Commitment 2009, as well as to the group's deployment on the international front.

The rise of the Dacia brand

Last year saw Dacia, a subsidiary of Renault, post the best sales figures of its history with more than 196,000 vehicles sold (including 184,470 Logans) in 2006, an increase of 19.6 per cent over 2005.
Outside of Romania, Dacia sales increased by 74 per cent to reach 88,931 units, with progress particularly strong in western Europe, notably in France (18,742 units, up 92 per cent), Spain (6,482, up 292 per cent) and Germany (6,292, up 208 per cent). Logan also met with an enthusiastic welcome in the Maghreb nations with sales of more than 20,000 units (12,723 in Morocco and 8,540 in Algeria). In Morocco, Dacia Logan has emerged as the market’s best-selling model and the model has won over new customers in all the countries where it is sold.
This year marks a new phase with the addition of two new models to the Dacia range, namely Logan MCV and Logan Van.
Unveiled at the Paris Show in September 2006 and available for sale in Romania and Bulgaria since last October, Logan MCV – an extremely spacious estate car with a large load carrying capacity – was launched in January across Europe and in certain countries of the Maghreb region and the Near East.
This new model has been greeted with keen interest by the motoring public and observers alike, with Dacia’s websites in its different European markets recording 600,000 hits in January alone, while the bespoke Logan MCV website (www.logan-mcv.com) received more than 100,000 hits. Early results are highly promising. New Logan registrations in Romania and Bulgaria already amount to 4,813, while
orders for the month of January in western Europe have outstripped targets, including more than 12,000 orders in France, Germany and Belgium. The seven-seater version is proving particularly popular and accounts for an average 40 per cent of sales. Customers are particularly drawn by its unmatched price-to-equipment ratio, versatility and load carrying capacity. Logan MCV also profits from Logan’s reputation for quality. In 2006, several motoring journals put Logan at the top of their quality/reliability ratings and, like that of the saloon version, Logan MCV’s design was guided by the notions of robustness and simplicity. Logan Van is the Dacia brand’s first van aimed at small business owners, traders and tradesmen.
Launched in Romania and Bulgaria in February 2007, it is scheduled for release across its other markets (Europe, Algeria, etc.) towards the end of 2007. This newcomer to the Logan range is destined to develop brand loyalty in Romania and to win over new buyers in its other markets.
In most countries, the Logan range is sold through Renault’s existing infrastructures, allowing customers to benefit from the significant draw of the Renault network and the high standard of its sales and after-sales service. At the end of 2006, 1,100 dealers in western Europe proposed Logan in a bespoke Dacia section of their showroom.

The Logan programme looking to conquer new markets in 2007

Dacia, through the Logan programme, is making a real contribution to the growth, quality and profitability undertakings set out in Renault Commitment 2009 and is one of the driving forces behind the group’s international deployment. In 2006, more than 415,000 Logans were sold under the Dacia and Renault brands on five continents (51 countries and four factories) between September 2004 and the end of December 2006, with an increase of 70 per cent recorded between 2005 and 2006 (nearly 250,000 cars sold in 2006).
Under the Renault brand, Logan will be looking to conquer new markets in 2007. It will also be produced and sold in Iran, India and Brazil over the coming months and will also be available from this spring in Argentina.
Since the beginning of the project, 1,000 million have been invested on product development (Logan, Logan MCV and Logan Van) and production engineering (excluding capacity-related investments), plus a further 489 million on the restoration of production plant at Pitesti, Romania, and 230 million for the
construction of the Avtoframos factory in Moscow, Russia. An additional USD150 million (approximately 116 million) will be invested in the Avtoframos factory to increase its capacity to 160,000 vehicles per annum by 2009.
