On the first service of my Logan the engine oil was replaced with the ELF EVOLUTION SXR 5W-40 synthetic oil . Is there any advantage/disadvantage compared to ELF COMPETITION ST 10W-40 engine oil?

Hey,

Don't go "downgrading" on the oil quality.

If you want to know about oil ? here's a link.

Thanks.

This means no mixing of synthetic oil with semi-synth or mineral ones, right?

Hey,

You can mix them , but only if there is nothing els to use [like the fully synt.]

And the viscosite should be the same , so a , 10w40 mixed with a 10w40, end so on.

ELF Evolution SXR 5W40 is full synthetic oil (more expensive, better) while ELF Competition ST 10W40 is semi-synthetic oil (cheaper than full synthetic, somewhat inferior performance compared to full synt. lubricants).

So, briefly, yes, there are advantages: full synthetic oils are better lubricants (better protection of the engine) and they have extended change interval compared to mineral or semi-synthetic ("cocktail" from mineral and synthetic oil).

Have a look at this link:

http://www.lubadmin.com/Restitution.aspx?M...=4&Parametre1=2

As you can see, ELF Evolution is quite well positioned among other ELF lubricants, and you can be assured that they put very good oil in your Logan!
