Pentru cei care nu au ascultat cu atentie despre ce modificari spune JC dar totusi isi dau cu parerea pe marginea subiectului, un scurt rezumat:
- masina a fost preparata in Islanda (tara aia din N, cu multa gheata... de unde si numele)
- anvelope speciale pentru mediul arctic, realizate manual, 2500 lire/bucata.
- suspensie modificata, podea protejata de un scut gros
- combustibil: amestec special diesel + AVGAS
- rezervoare speciale, etc.
Daca ar fi enumerat toata lista de modificari probabil ca ar fi luat jumatate din timpul filmului. Cred ca e logic faptul ca s-au folosit si antigel special, si uleiuri speciale, etc etc...
Echipa mai avea, daca nu ma insel, inca 2 masini la fel, una din ele tragand si o remorca cu diverse.

Bine punctat. Lumea sare sa arunce cu rahat imediat, si dau cu parerea ca stiu si ei ce probleme creaza o oarecare motorina la o oarecare temperatura, da' nici nu au ascultat ca lumea sa auda ca s-a specifical clar cum e cu combustibilitii din acea masina.

Deh...tat romanu e expert....la aruncat cu parerea.

Au spus deasemenea că au plecat cu 3 mașini, echipă de filmare, 2 experți în explorări artice sau ceva de genul asta (nu mai rețin, filmul e din vară)... Dealtfel mașinile apar în film (2 Pajero parcă)...

Mda. Am luat din nou filmul de pe net si l-am revazut. Masinile sunt preparate de Arctic Trucks, niste baieti cu experienta in domeniul asta. Dupa cum scrie si pe site-ul lor, au avut la dispozitie doua Toyota Hilux noi identice si un Land Cruiser modificat prin 2004.

Before the first Hilux came to Iceland in late December 2006 we had more or less decided the basic modification.  We would not do any body lift but instead move the front suspension down and forward.  We would not install coil spring suspension in the rear but use longer leaf springs from Toyota Tundra.  To keep the centre of gravity low we made as little suspension lift as possible but did instead a considerable modification to the body.   We were a bit in the dark of how much fuel we would need but we set of with the plan we would get one fuel dump approx 2/3 of the way to the Mag Pole, needing approx 200 litre capacity per vehicle beside some extra fuel on the trailer.  We could therefore tank up there two times, on the way up and on the way back.  We lowered the gear ratios to 1/4.88 and considered to install extra low gear box in at least one of the vehicles.  100% differential locks fr/rr was installed in all vehicles.  We installed extra heaters, including heated fuel filters, bigger batteries, inverters to supply power to all the camera equipment and laptops.

For communication we used VHF radios between the vehicles, Iridium phone for the outside world and GPS for navigation.  As originally the race was to take place earlier in the year we installed extra lights.  We decided to keep these lights on as they might come in use in bad visibility.  The Land Cruiser we used was modified late 2004 had approx 40 thousand km on it mixed with highland/glacier driving and normal family driving.

Am vazut si eu, ce-i drept la o calitate mai buna emisiunea. Meserie, desi eu nu m-as risca sa fac asa ceva prea curand, poate cu islandezi d-aia dupa mine cu inca 10 masini. Sau mai bine un tanc.

Corect. Da' vorbim de zeci de tone si alea zeci de tot trebuie sustinute. Si daca gheata are in jur un punct slab. Ma tem ca se duce. Dar intradevar, forta de apasare per cm patrat e mai mica la un tanc, sau mai ales multe utilaje pentru zapada sau tundra.
