Hello, I've been using 10w40 oil for my diesel Logan since I bought it in 2007.
I've heard and seen in many topics that the 5w40 is the best for the 1.5 DCI. So I would like to use 5w40 for the next time I will change my oil.
The problem is that too many persons told me that the engine will not be ok if I do 5w40 because it was running with 10w40 for 13 years.
I would like to know if that's true, and I would like to know "WHY" the engine will suffer if I do 5w40? Thank you.

My car has just 64.000 kilometers.

The endless debate about the best oil engine for a specific car

The best you could get is an original not fake oil lubricating grade meeting the references of the car`s owner manual

This advice is never failing for all of normal users.

it will not suffer, 5W40 is just better, especially in winter.
