There are...

For sure you can find Barum Polaris 2 with this dimension

In Romania Logan is equipped with 185/65 r15 wheels. You could try to purchase a set of rims this size and there is a (slightly) better diversity of tyres.

Would that be then same size (diameter) of the tyre? Is it ok to put such rims/tyres on 1.4 Logan?

I don't know what's the procedure in your country (what is your country?) but in Croatia formaly you can have only the tires with the same dimension as in your "car traffic licence" (Prometna dozvola).

There is some kind of procedure for putting different sized wheels and tires, but in my opinion that's too much trouble.

The 165/80 r 14 wheels are for (some) export versions of Logan only. In Romania 185/65 r15 is the standard wheel for Logan. But in the registration certificate I have listed both (185/65 anf 165/80) as accepted.

The 165/80 r14 wheel is by 13,65 mm smaller in radius than the 185/65 r 15 (I hope I did the calculations right).

In Romania, some earlier Logans were equipped with Montana tyres which I found to be very good on snow and ice. My car never slipped on ice, I never got bogged down in deep snow (last winter, and it was a bad winter smile.gif ).

Srbija, Beograd :-)

Here they (traffic police) are not that strict for checking dimension (for example nobody will fine you if you car should be with 165/80/14 and you have 185/60/14) if tyres are more or less of same resulting diameter as they should be (doesn't look un-natural, simply put) and in good condition.

Well, more or less it's the same situation here with the police, but when you go to renew yoour registration you can have problems.

Old and boring me:

Always use ONLY tyres in dimensions listed in user's manual, all 4 of them same size, and if possible, same type.

When I first came to Germany in 1970 we were allowed Spiked tyres they had little metal studds in and were Great on Ice but in good weather they were frightning and the kids at night used to put on some amazing SPARKs shows

Is there any Winter tyre in  165/80 R14  dimensions (for Logans with 14" wheels)?

It seems that choice is pretty limited? sad.gif

Any experience with Barum Polaris 2 winter tyres?

I've found those in 165/80/14 on the local market.

I had Polaris 2 last winter, the first and only winter tyre type I have ever used, but I think they are more than OK. Huge difference compared with Montana. What I liked about them was the fact that it's surface looks and acts as a kind of brush causing a ferm grip.

Best regards...

Are they also OK for the rain ?

Saw on the Internet that some people complain that they are "noisy" - do you have such impression?

It seemed to me quieter then Montana on dry.I don't recall if I drove over 90km/h on rain, but anyway, it was not enough to bother me or to be noticeable (for me).
About the grip on wet, I didn't really had the chance to test it "hard", but I felt they are quite good. For that kind of money.

For some reasoon tires are relatively expensive in Croatia. Lot's of people go to Slovenia, change the tires, pay the customs and the whole thing costs less than here.

I was lazy!

Vredestein Quatrac are cca 100 EUR per tire.

You are right, usually when I need something I go in the store and buy it. I can go to visit a cuple of stores and compare prices, but to drive to another state is too much.

BTW I've looked up prices in Slovenia just now, and it's the same thing. 74,44 EUR per tire, I would get the taxes back and pay the customs, so it comes aproximately to the same amount.

If I somehow avoided paying the customs I would pay 40 EUR less than in Zagreb, I would rather spend the time with my friends than bother with 2-3 hour trip and risk geting fined for avoiding customs.

Keep the door rubbers  moist with silicone

Found a bottle of something that looks like that in my garrage, so I need some help to traslate it into english (and see if this is the "right stuff"):

Türschloß-Enteiser
Winterpflege
Mit Ölzusatz

Lnhaltsstoffe:
Alkohole und Silikonöl

There is picture of a car-lock on it and it is small plastic bottle of 50ml (and expiration date year 2015 :-)

So, I guess it is OK to use it on a lock (put some drops on the key and then insert the key in the lock?) - but is this also ok for the rubber on the doors?

Is this OK to be used on locks as a preventive maintenance?

It is "SONAX" product, it is marked as "SCHLOSS FIT" - and, in the tradition with (most) other german products - everything is written in German and only in German smile.gif

Apart from this one, there is one more exactly same looking Sonax product, apart that is not with yellow (please see attached photo) but with blue line around the label. And, yes, comparing what is written on the labels make it clear that those are for the different use - but, as I said, in good old German tradition... everything is written in German only wink.gif

So, question is
