Daca te pricepi la ceva grafica si modifici si poza si icon-ul chiar ar putea iesi ceva frumos si interesant !

Eu inca nu am reusit sa ma obisnuiesc cu KDE4, e adevarat ca nu l-am mai incercat de la versiunea 4.1, pe vremea aia inca era destul de buggy smile.gif
Pacat ca e tot mai greu sa tii un KDE3 in distributiile astea mai noi, iti baga deja pe gat Qt4, mie mi-a luat ceva timp pana sa-l pun in OpenSuse 11.1

De ce ai mai ține kde3? kde4 e acum destul de ok, plasma mai face uneori figuri, da' poți renunța la ea. În plus, nu știu dacă mai apar update-uri pentru kde3.

Ai dreptate, update-uri sigur nu mai apar. La mine problema e ca am un jeg de placa video SiS pe laptop, cu drivere de toata jena (doar 2D) si in KDE4 efectiv vedeam cum se deseneaza ferestrele. O sa-l incerc pe desktop sa vad cum merge (cu Nvidia).

Dragos, dar ce ai cu gnome ? Mie mi se pare un UI simplu si intuitiv care aduce in lumea linux cam ceea ce ofera windowsul. Nici KDE-ul nu e rau (mie personal KDE imi place) dar recunosc ca daca nu te pricepi prea mult la configuratii in mod text, gnome e solutia caci are toate acele mici utilitare care sunt aur curat ptr un user neexperimentat in linux.

Liviu, nu stii cum sunt utilizatorii de linux?
1. win e o porcarie
2. distributia lor e ca mai buna
3. desktop managerul lor e cel mai bun/performant/util/rapid/stabil (dupa caz)
4. orice alta distributie sau desktop manager sunt varzaaa

Nu știu ce eșantion ai studiat tu astfel încât să ajungi la această concluzie.
N-am nimic cu gnome, doar că e prea stufos și prea mare mâncător de resurse. Eu sunt utilizator de kde și datorită faptului că e un pic mai light. Bine, dacă mai umbli pe ici pe colo pe la setări, și nu, nu în mod text.

@DragosP 'razboiul' dm-urilor e vechi decand lumea. Iti respect parerea dar nu sunt de acord cu ea. In opinia mea din dm-urile populare KDE e cel mai stufos, se misca cel mai greu, cel mai instabil (4.x), insa ofera cele mai multe optiuni si posibilitati de configurare. XFCE e cel mai light, rapid, insa are optiuni putine. Gnome e intre astea doua atat la resurse consumate cat si la complexitate.
Pana la urma (daca nu folosesti o rasnita antica) oricare poate fi folosit cu incredere, nu sunt probleme de resurse. Conteaza doar obisnuinta.

P.S. Am putea sa facem un topic separat de Linux (daca nu exista) si sa mai schimbam acolo pareri, impresii. Dupa cum au observat si altii suntem destui utilizatori. Nu ca nu ar exista topicuri pe alte forumuri, dar sa avem si pe daciaclub smile.gif
