boris, no joke, we had the same thing a few times on two different cars (but both logans), it vanished after a while, and we
never found out what it was. also both the workshop as well as somebody from DACIA had heard about it, but also had no answer.

in a german forum there once was something similar, but however serious it was discussed, it turned out to be the floor mat that
had slipped forward and blocked the gas pedal from going down all the way. i know this might sound stupid, but check that too.

stu: ''... look at spoiler and England Badge ...'' - you mean to says the england badge spoils the logan? me no speak good anglisch.

greetings - heinz -

That did happen to me a couple of times, maybee that's the case now. That does sound like a reasonable explanation.

Anyway the car runs fine now smile.gif

It's a regular mat, but it's possible because the gas pedal has a kind of a elbow on it ad when the mat goes underneath it you can not press it down all the way. I'll the theory later.

I had a strange experience the other day. I was driving on the highway between 130 and 150 km/h. The was a bit of traffic so I had to slow down. Later the car would not accelerate above 120 km/h (floored the pedal).

The next day everything was fine.

Strange, really strange.

It could be one of these two IMHO: 1. The floor mat went way too much under the gas pedal (it never happened to me) or 2. Low quality fuel (this happened to me the last year, but beside not being able to accelerate over 100-110 kph the engine was "shaky")

I had a feeling that the car was kinda struggling and having a hard time. I don't tkink it's fuel because I drove with the same fuel later and everything was fine.

Well it was extremely hot, it was around 40°C, but I was driving 160 kmh that day, so I can't see the connection.

Stu, what would I see or what could I diagnose with that OBD tester?

How much is that anyway?

It will be a year soon, the first service is due, and after that I guess it would be inappropriate for me to call my Logan "new" any more, so it is probably my last post to this topic.

For this past year, I've crossed 6100 km with my Logan, used 550 l of fuel, and spent around 550 EUR for it, driving it almost every day for nearly 200 hours in total. My overall impressions with it are generally very positive. Although many would say that there are much better cars out there, and they would have every right to say so, I can't say that I'm disappointed in any way with what I've got, and I guess that is the bottom line in any deal smile.gif.

Regarding the performance of the car, it seams to me that it is noticeably more responsive and agile now then in the beginning, and that it really took some 5000 km (credits to Stu on this one for his good estimate... or just plain experience smile.gif) for this Renault engine to run-in really well, and to reach its full potential. Unfortunately, it is unlikely that I will have something to post to the "How fast did you drive your Logan" topic anytime soon, so this remains only my feeling, totally subjective, without any real proof. But I will surely try to push it to the max if I got a chance, just a little, just for fun and satisfaction biggrin.gif icon_mrgreen.gif.

What I liked so far about Logan, most of all I enjoyed the smooth ride on the open road, good handling, and comfortable position in the driver's seat. It made me just wanting to hit the road and cruise for hours, every time smile.gif! I appreciated the presence of the ABS on a couple of occasions, and I was grateful for not sweating during this long and very hot summer. I didn't mind the sound of the engine in the cabin that some would say was too loud for their taste, in fact, I liked it just that way. I just love to know what my machine is doing... biggrin.gif

What bothered me the most regards rear visibility - all 3 mirrors too small, not covering enough angle, high boot lid with rear window too small, and as if it was not enough, further obstructed by all times up head supports on the rear bench. But than again, it is not characteristic just for Logan, many new designs suffer from the same "features". I also went a little nuts on a couple of occasions when even more then 500 liters of its trunk was not enough. I was especially frustrated one time when I was not able to transport a newly bought fridge. But, again it's my fault, I "wanted" a limousine...

In the conclusion, I can say that my next new car will almost certainly not be Logan, but it will not the least bit be because of dissatisfaction. When that moment comes, with the the speed the whole industry is developing, sadly but plain and simple, it will be obsoleted by a bunch of new models. Not to forget to mention that my needs will most certainly be different then, which some other model would satisfy better. But I think Logan will mark a beginning of a new trend where budget cars will be taken more seriously, giving more of us an opportunity to benefit from a better choice and more features for less money.

he said it already, stu. the 1,6 liter 105 bhp engine has a top speed of 183 km/h. On the dash it might show above 200. Or maybe he has a tuned one. tongue.gif .
Anyway, the 8 valve 1,6 liter 90 bhp one also can reach a speed of +190 km/h on the dash. But actually those are 175 km/h.

PS: u know it's kilometres not miles, right Stu ? tongue.gif . just kiddin'.

Sorry mates, I was reading all the posts in this topic and I tried to make a joke with Boris's post from August 1st, 2007. I have never had such a problem, and I hope that he would not also. @Stu: some 26 years ago I found the way to check speedometer in my car. There are kilometer marks on the Salzburg - Villach highway in Austria. While I was watching the dashboard keeping exactly 100 km/h, my mate measured the time between two km marks. Guess what - exactly 40 seconds. If you calculate it (3600/40), you get 90km/h, so the error would be about +11,1%. I also checked it with my friend's car (brand new Vectra 2.0 GT) - about the same. Since that time I always drive 11.1% higher than the speed limit without any chances to be caught. radmasa.gif So, if you want to do the same, you should go to Austria immediately! LolLolLo.gif

14 Apr 2008, 05:56:
BTW, I've found out that Stu is watching Lo-Fi version of this site, he cannot read my signature! naughty.gif doh.gif yupy.gif

Since this topic was mentioned in here before I'll ask my question here.
I have a new 1.6 16V Logan MCV
The dealer gave no advice about running it in and there doesn't seem to be any information in the manual about this.
I know it should be done for all new motors but I don't know for how long and at what speed/revs

Any advice welcome as in 2 days I go on a 500km trip.

First, welcome to this forum. I am surprised that you could not find anything about how to drive your new car in the owner's manual. I have the very same engine in my car. In the manual it says that for the first 1000km you should not push it to more than 3000 rpm, and after that no limits. Everybody will, however, advise you to be careful until 3 to 5 thousand km, and after that - rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrroarrrrrrrrrrrrr. I would add that you should also be careful not to put too much load to the engine during that time, i.e. switch gears on time to keep minimum necessary engine torque to drive the car (be careful with the gas pedal also) and keep revs between 2000 and 3000. No big deal if you push the pedal to the bottom from time to time, but very shortly. Have fun. Greetings.

Thanks for the reply.
Doesn't help that my manual is in Croatian and my Croatian reading skills aren't that good as I'm not Croatian. Just had the wife look and she found it.
Says to drive below 130km/h or 3000-3500 rpm for first 1000km.
I expected information that important to be at the front of a manual and not in the middle.
I go on 1000km return trip this weekend so should be over and done with soon.

You got it Boris. Only just noticed you are also in Zagreb.
I'm Australian and my wife is Croatian. I've lived here 4 years and I can understand Croatian quite well, but I don't speak so good. I can read a bit, but as I said before, didn't expect it to be in the middle of the manual. wacko.gif
