Dupa numai 24 de ore de la accident, Kovalainen a fost din nou pe pista! Si asta gratie efortului echipei de mecanici care au "remodelat " masina peste noapte pentru a-i permite finlandezului sa participe la teste. Kovalainen a recunoscut ca este vinovat de producerea accidentului, cauza fiind faptul ca si-a pierdut concentrarea....

PS Tipul asta va participa la curse?....Hm...

Brake lights in Bahrain
Testing a system for the coming season?

Several Formula One teams tested the use of brake lights at the Bahrain test last week.
Sources report that runners for Super Aguri, Toyota, McLaren, Renault and Ferrari - and possibly others - trialled the system at the Sakhir circuit.
The news is sure to spark speculation that the governing body could implement brake lights on the grounds of safety.
Further information is not available at this time, but it is clear that the single rain light below the rear wing glowed red when the drivers braked into corners.

Official: Tyres will be marked for easy identification

The move, which has been discussed for many months, is aimed at helping race fans understand what compound teams are running at any stage of the race, and thereby help them evaluate teams' different strategies.

With just over a week before the 2007 season gets underway, the Formula One Commission and the FIA's World Motor Sport Council has finally reached an agreement, hence the new rule: "Each tyre supplier must undertake to provide no more than two specifications of dry-weather tyre at each event, each of which must be of one homogenous compound and visibly distinguishable from one another when a car is on the track".

Elsewhere, the revised regulations state: "The outer sidewall of all tyres which are to be used at an event must be marked with a unique identification".

Kimi Raikkonen might have switched to Ferrari but he has not given up his partying ways, new reports in the Finnish press suggest.
The tabloid newspaper Iltalethi reports that a drunk Raikkonen was spotted at the weekend in a Helsinki bar singing karaoke after returning from the final pre-season tests in Bahrain.
Iltalethi claims that the Finn, behaving raucously, had spent the evening drinking beer, and before leaving he autographed a bottle of Koskenkorva Viina, a clear Finnish spirit.

Ganditi-va cata frustrare si determinare este in micul brazilian - sa fii locotenentul lui Schumacher...Va dori sa lamureasca pe toata lumea de faptul ca nou venitul, mediatizatul Kimi ii va fi orice, mai putin superior...Din punctul asta de vedere, presimt ca lupta in interiorul echipei va fi dramatica...Poate chiar cu cioburi de sange!
La Renault, e posibil ca Heiki sa aiba o forma de respect fata de tataia Fisico, in acest fel temperandu-si unele impulsuri animalice de "lasa ca ii arat eu lui..." Dar s-ar putea sa avem surpize!

Da' cine era Massa ca sa fie frustrat ca e locotenentu' lu' Schumi? Stia foarte bine ce rol va avea la Ferrari. Iar cand a avut sansa sa castige, nu l-a oprit nimeni. Si a avut destule de invatat de la tataie Schumi.
Frustrarea o sa apara daca o sa ajunga in postura de locotenent al unui alcoolic lenes cum e Kimi.

Hai sa nu transformam iar discutia in ceva despre Schumi. A fost si gata. Aici vorbim de ce se intampla acum in F1.

Cred si eu ca Massa va voi sa dovedeasca tuturor si mai ales lui Kimi cine e cel mai tare pe la Ferrari.

"There were only ever two drivers considered to replace Michael - Kimi and Alonso," Brawn said. "It was really between the two - and one was available and one wasn't at the time."
Alonso switched from Renault to McLaren Mercedes after winning his second drivers' title last year.
Brawn backed Ferrari's signing of Raikkonen, but said Alonso 'would also have done a great job'.
"I don't think there's that much between the two of them."

The Spanish test circuit Ricardo Tormo, located in Valencia, has decided to name one of its corners after the country's double and reigning world champion Fernando Alonso.
From now on, and with the 25-year-old McLaren driver's consent, turn four of the twisty layout - a favourite venue for Formula One testing - will be known officially as 'Curva Alonso'.
A bronze statue of Alonso's head and shoulders will accompany the honour.
'Curva Alonso' is a second-gear right hander taken by a Grand Prix contender at about 100kph.

Michelin initiates legal proceedings against the FIA

The relationship between Michelin and the FIA which has soured in recent years, leading to the French manufacturer withdrawing from F1 a year ahead of schedule - took a turn for the worse recently when it was revealed that Pirelli is to become sole tyre supplier for the world Rally Championship.

Therefore it comes as no surprise that the French company has issued the following statement today:

Michelin initiates legal proceedings against the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) before the Tribunal de Grande Instance de Paris and requests that the 27 February 2007 decision of the World Motor Sport Council of the FIA granting Pirelli the exclusive supply of tyres for the 2008-2009-2010 World Rally Championships (WRC) be annulled due to irregularities in the tender process.

Bridgestone to use white tyre markings in Sepang

Bridgestone has confirmed that it will use white tyre markings in this weekend's Malaysian Grand Prix.

The white line - used by Super Aguri during last week's test at Sepang - was one of several tried out by the Japanese manufacturer following the failure of the 'white spots' used in Melbourne.

"We will be using white marking on the bottom of the second inside groove of the softer spec tyre - which in Malaysia is the medium compound," a Bridgestone spokeswoman confirmed.

Raikkonen, îngrijorat de motor

Kimi Raikkonen a recunoscut că echipa Ferrari este îngrijorată în legătură cu motorul monopostului său pentru Marele Premiu al Malaysiei. Finlandezul a dominat categoric cursa din Australia, însă spre finalul acesteia s-a descoperit că motorul V8 al mașinii lui Raikkonen are o mică scurgere de apă. Chiar dacă propulsorul a fost verificat temeinic, Raikkonen nu exclude posibilitatea schimbării acestuia pentru cursa din Malaysia.

În acest caz, finlandezul ar primi o penalizare de 10 locuri pe grila de start, lucru care i-ar compromite șansele la o victorie. “Există o oarecare îngrijorare”, a spus Kimi pe site-ul oficial Ferrari. “Am avut o mică scurgere de apă în ultima parte a cursei iar echipa mi-a spus să încetinesc, scriind cuvîntul “cool” pe panou fiindcă radio-ul nu mai funcționa”, a adăugat Raikkonen.

“De atunci motorul a fost verificat la fabrică și s-au făcut și niște simulări. Tehnicienii au acum datele. Evident, sperăm că motorul va rezista tot weekendul și că nu va trebui să o schimbăm înainte de calificări”, a mai spus finlandezul.

“Dacă va trebui să-l schimbăm, în mod evident va fi diferit pentru noi: totul va fi mai dificil pentru că vom fi nevoiți să luăm startul cu zece poziții mai jos”, a mai spus Kimi.

Dar ce ziceti de scandalul cu fundul plat al masinii care se misca? Ceva adevar trebuie sa fie prin asta. Oare sare acuma lumea in apararea Ferrari (ei si BMW fiind suspectii), sau e liniste, ca si la interzicerea mass-dumpers la Reno?

E interesant. Inca nu e scandal, dar are toate sansele sa devina unul precum cel cu mass-damperele. De aceea, FIA a introdus un sistem nou de verificare a masinilor. Detalii mai multe sunt pe formula1.com.

TVR se pare ca ne pregateste o surpriza pentru cursa de maine. Vor avea ceva emisiune dedicata, care incepe cu aproape 30 min inainte de cursa si dureaza inca aprox. 1 ora dupa cursa. Sunt curios ce va fi.

Faux pas or wishful thinking?

We've all done it...

You're going out with a new partner, when suddenly, foolishly, you call them by the wrong name... your old partner's name.

There follows an awkward silence, a nervous laugh as you attempt to carry on, in the hope that no (lasting) damage has been done.

On Friday it happened, indeed it happened twice.

Asked how he was coping following the loss of Fernando Alonso to McLaren, a move he still insists caught him totally by surprise, but many F1 insiders still doubt, Flavio Briatore replied: "If you're missing somebody important in the team it's lost, you know? Like in any company, any time you are missing a good player in the company you are missing something, this is sure, but we need to understand as well that the team is strong, the people are the same and they are working with Giancarlo and Heikki to be doing our best."

So far, so good.

"Last year we spent every moment, to the last second, to develop the 2006 car to fight with Ferrari for the championship," he continued. "Now we are a little bit late, we know that, and we need to recover quickly. We have everything to get back on top. We have the people, the finance, the drivers, everything.

"You turn the page and you try to do the best you can, and at this moment everybody is motivated to give the best to... Fernando and Heikki..."

The Italian quickly corrected himself; "I mean Giancarlo...

"I'm sorry," he quickly added, and for a moment it was hard to tell where the permatan ended and the flush of embarrassment began.

"I'm sorry," he said again.

A few feet away Giancarlo Fisichella shifted nervously.

Moments later, Jean Todt was asked to clarify the situation regarding Kimi Raikkonen's engine. Dismissing much of the recent speculation regarding a possible change as media mischief, the Frenchman replied: "We are going to keep both engines we had in Australia for Malaysia. It's as simple as that.

Once again, so far, so good.

"The whole rumour started from speculation," he continued. "It is true to say that at the end of the Australian Grand Prix, on the last laps, Michael..."

The same reddening, the same uneasy shifting in the seat, the same worried look from the driver - in this case Kimi Raikkonen - sitting a few inches away.

"You see, I am not the only one!" jokes Briatore, thankful that he is not alone in making such a mistake.

Like we said... faux pas or wishful thinking?

As spune "wishful thinking". Poate ca Ferrari sunt ok cu Kimi (desi asta se va vedea mai incolo in campionat sau anii urmatori, inca e prea mult Michael in masina), dar Reno sunt pe apa sambetei fara Alonso.

Sa nu dam vina doar pe gume, desi e clar ca Renault care era prietenul #1 al lui Michelin are de-a face acum cu un pact cu dusmanul #1 al vechiului prieten.
Fisico nu e in stare sa aduca victoriile necesare iar Kovalainen e prea copil dupa parerea mea. Nu are curajul si taria pe care o avea Alonso.

Pana la urma totul pleaca de la pilot, de la "mofturile" pe care le face si echipa de mecanici trebuie sa i le acomodeze rezultanta fiind o combinatie om-masina mai buna. Nu vad asta la pilotii Renault de acum.

McLaren are cel mai mare noroc cu Alonso dupa parerea mea iar Ferrari cred ca inca mai culege roadele sezonului trecut. Am fost entuziast cu privire la combinatia Kimi + Ferrari insa nu cred ca merge. Alonso o sa dea ceata din nou. E bun omul, asta e. Stie sa colaboreze cu echipa de mecanici si sa conduca foarte bine. Chiar si cand situatia e maro merge atat de calculat incat tot stoarce niste puncte pe masura posibilitatilor tehnice.

Prosti au fost cei de la Renault ca nu l-au pastrat pe Alonso, zgarie branza.

Era valabil daca Hamilton era undeva pe la mijlocul clasamentului in cele 2 curse.
Dar asa .... in ambele a fost in spatele lui Alonso,mai mult a facut timpi comparabili cu Fernando.
Cred ca mai corect ar fi Alonso + Hamilton + McLaren deocamdata prea tari pentru ceilalti competitori

Ideea era ca McLaren a avut noroc cu FA pentru ca acesta a contribuit decisiv la dezvoltarea masinii. Imi e cam greu sa cred ca LH are o contributie comparabila. (KR+LH nu ar fi adus masina acolo unde este acum)

Asta e si parerea mea. Alonso a adus un aport remarcabil la dezvoltarea masinii McLaren acolo unde e acuma, in numai cateva luni. Hamilton e bun si culege roadele, dar ma indoiesc foarte tare ca el si Kimi ar fi facut aceeasi masina ca si Alonso.

Din declaratiile de dupa cursa din Malayesia Fernando era placut surprins ca au reusit intr-un timp atit de scurt sa bata rivalii de la Ferrari.Asta cred ca ar insemna ca nu din partea lui a venit contributia decisiva in imbunatatirea masinii.
Cit priveste calitatile lui Hamilton nu sint de acord cu voi. A concurat pe diverse tipuri de masini,a urcat treapta cu treapta spre formula 1,a cistigat toate campionatele in care a participat.Mi se pare normal sa stie ce sa ceara mecanicilor sa imbunatateasca la masina. Chiar Alonso a spus in conferinta de presa dupa cursa din Malayesia ca masina isi modifica comportamentul dupa fiecare tur de circuit. La fel s-a comportat si masina lui Hamilton care a terminat pe 2. Eu cred ca ambii piloti si-au adus contributia la imbunatatirea masinii cu sprijinul mecanicilor/ inginerilor de la McLaren.
Amintiti-va ca anul trecut Fisico rar s-a putut tine in cursa dupa Alonso. Iata ca Hamilton poate sa o faca.Pentru ca cunoaste masina.

Renault are still in the dark over what is responsible for their lack of competitiveness, according to Heikki Kovalainen.

While Renault claimed both World titles the past two years running, the Anglo/French squad has flounder this season, struggling to match the pace of the front-running Ferraris and McLarens.

Neither Kovalainen nor his team-mate, Giancarlo Fisichella, have managed to get within a second of the fastest drivers time in any of three races that have already been run.

And the result is that Renault are lagging behind in the points, having scored just nine compared to Championship leaders McLaren's 44.

"Obviously our competitiveness was pretty poor and we are not where we want to be," Kovalainen told the BBC. "It has been a big surprise for us that the car is so far off the pace.

"Since we put the Bridgestone tyres on for the first test before Christmas, it has been clear that the difference between the leading teams has shifted quite dramatically.

"Even on the first day, it looked like McLaren and even BMW had become more competitive.

"We thought we'd recover over the winter, but some days we've looked more competitive and some days we've been pretty far away.

"We don't fully understand why the car is not performing like we want it to.

"It's been built by the same people who won two drivers' and constructors' championships and we still have the same strong, reliable powerful engine, so there are a lot of questions.

"There is also a lot of research going on at the factory and everyone is working flat out to find out why we aren't as fast as we should be."

He added: "We will bounce back. "We have the best mechanics, engineers and designers, and are still a fantastic team.

"We will find a solution eventually. But at the moment all I can do is drive to the maximum."

Renault, cand a mers pe mana actualilor piloti, a considerat probabil ca vor avea si anul asta aceeasi masina imbatabila pe care au avut-o in ultimii doi ani si, cu doi piloti, unul de duzina si unul la inceput de drum, vor putea forma un tandem masina - pilot care sa aduca rezultate bune. S-au inselat si rezultatele se vad....

Fortez niste comparatii: - in WRC, diferenta dintre Citroen si Ford nu este foarte mare. Este mare diferenta dintre Loeb si ceilalti.
- in Moto GP, Yamaha nu este deasupra Honda si Ducati. Rossi insa este mult peste ceilalti.
- In F1, de-a lungul timpului s-a vazut influenta lui Schumacher la Ferrari, a lui Alonso la Renault etc.

Deci, chiar si in ideea ca Renault (inca) are o masina ce poate deveni iar campioana mondiala, nu are pilotii cu care sa faca acest lucru.

Poate e diferenta, poate nu e, intre Hamilton si Kovalainen. Englezul insa, are coechipier un campion mondial, de la care poate invata si care este un exemplu pentru el. Kovalainen ce exemplu are la Renault?

Toyota engineers convicted of stealing secrets from Ferrari

Following a long, drawn out process, two former Scuderia Ferrari engineers, who stood accused of stealing secrets from Maranello and giving them to rivals at Toyota F1, have been convicted. Pending appeal, Angelo Santini was sentenced to nine months and Mauro Iacconi to 16 behind bars on charges of industrial espionage.

Back at the start of the 2003 season, Toyota built a wind-tunnel down the road from Ferrari in Sant'Agata Bolognese, near the Lamborghini factory. Naturally the project recruited the talents of many former Ferrari engineers, but when the season kicked off, Toyota's car looked suspiciously like Ferrari's. Complaints were filed in Italy and in Germany, and the case against Santini and Iacconi went to court a year ago. Toyota's former team principal, chief designer and chief aerodynamicist were all charged in Germany, where the case against them is pending prosecution.

Muncitorii de la Ferrari in greva!

Desi recent a fost votata ca cel mai bun loc unde sa muncesti, fabrica Ferrari se confrunta cu o miscare de protest a muncitorilor, prima dupa 20 de ani.
Se pare ca sunt nemultumiti de suma redusa cu care le vor fi crescute salariile! (Da-i un deget si iti ia toata mana!)

Totusi, greva nu va afecta echipa de F1, aceasta limitandu-se la divizia de masini de drum. Chiar si asa, popularitatea grevei a fost fantastica, mai mult de 80% din muncitori stand acasa in orele de program.

Cei care pichetau intrarea, la un mement dat au cantat: "Avem un singur vis in inimi - sa-l vedem pe Cordero conducand un tractor!", referiondu-se desigur la boss-ul Luca Cordero di Montezemolo.

Din anul competitional 2008 vom avea prima cursa noctura de Formula 1 in Singapore. Cursa va fi programata spre sfarsitul anului competitional.

Spre deosebire de Hamilton, brazilianul Felipe Massa (Ferrari), care a cstigat ultimele doua etape ale Campionatului Mondial, in Bahrein si Spania, se afla doar pe locul al treilea.
Calculand clasamentul dupa vechiul sistem de punctaj, modificat in 2002, in care invingatorul primea cu patru puncte mai mult decat ocupantul locului secund, Felipe Massa ar fi la conducerea campionatului, cu un punct peste Hamilton.
"Dupa trei plecari din pole-position si doua victorii la rand, ma aflu doar pe pozitia a treia a campionatului", s-a rezumat a declara  Felipe Massa pe blogul sau personal, caracterizand situatia ca 'neobisnuita'.

Are si el dreptate. Punctajul a fost schimbat datorita faptului ca Schumi tot castiga campionatele, ba chiar la distanta mare in clasament. Apoi, Schumi nu mai e in F1, nu?
