The seven-time world champion was with his family in Munich en route to the airport, and like the rest of us, they were running late. Naturally Schumi asked the driver, Tuncer Yilmaz, if he could drive, and the next thing Tuncer knew, he was riding shotgun as Michael did what Michael does best.

Needless to say, the Schumacher family made their flight, landed in Coburg and picked up their new dog from the breeder. (Seriously). The cabbie, for his part, attested to having the ride of his life, and in addition to the fare, got a generous tip.

Oficialii echipei McLaren Mercedes si-au cerut scuze Federatiei Internationale de Automobilism pentru faptul ca nu au realizat cat de multe informatii apartinand Scuderiei Ferrari au fost aflate in cadrul echipei. ”McLaren doreste sa prezinte scuze in mod public echipei Ferrari, FIA, tuturor celor implicati in Formula 1, precum di fanilor din intreaga lume ai echipei noastre. Am luat toate masurile pentru ca o asemenea situatie sa nu se mai repete niciodata la noi, pentru ca nu ar fi loial”, se arata intr-un comunicat dat publicitatii pe site-ul celor de la McLaren.

Prea dintr-odata McLaren sarise in sus cu performanta.
Te-ai fi asteptat ca dupa ce un Renault si un Ferrari care se bateau pe pocneli de motor sezonul trecut la limita sa fi continuat in vreun fel lupta.
Cand colo Renault a lasat-o moale poate din cauza pilotilor iar McLaren hop mare pretendent...

... intotdeauna exista o explicatie.

Tocmai am castigat o bere la un pariu pus cu un prieten, pariu facut imediat ce Renault a anuntat ca Alonso si Piquet vor pilota anul viitor pentru ei.

Kovalainen to partner Hamilton at McLaren for 2008

McLaren have confirmed that Heikki Kovalainen is to become Lewis Hamilton’s team mate for the 2008 season. Spaniard Pedro de la Rosa will remain as McLaren’s third driver, while Gary Paffett will assist with the team’s testing programme when required.

Kovalainen made his Formula One race debut with Renault at the start of this season, but lost his seat earlier this week when the French squad announced Fernando Alonso and Nelson Piquet Jr as their 2008 drivers. The 26-year-old Finn joins his new employers on a long-term contract and will commence testing in early January.

“I am so excited to join a team like Vodafone McLaren Mercedes,” said Kovalainen. “So far I have been blown away by the dedication and commitment to winning which is clear through the entire organisation and I am really excited about our joint future. As a Finn it’s an honour for me to follow in Mika and Kimi’s footsteps. I haven’t really spent a lot of time with Lewis so far but from what I know I think we will work well together and do our best for the team.”

Masina de taxi pe care Michael Schumacher a condus-o pentru a prinde un avion a fost scoasa la vanzare de propietarul ei, Tuncer Yilmaz, care si-a motivat gestul spunand ca poate fi pedespit grav dupa ce a incalcat regulile, dandu-i masina lui Schumacher.

"Mai multa lume este interesata sa cumpere masina. Cineva mi-a oferit 63.000 de euro si am nevoie de acesti bani, deoarece din cauza cursei lui Schumi as putea avea mari probleme cu politia", a declarat Tuncer Yilmaz.

"Ar fi ridicol ca taximetristul sa fie pedepsit dupa ce l-a ajutat pe Michael. Nu ne dorim cu totii sa avem taximetristi care sa ne ajute?", a spus managerul lui Michael Schumacher, Willi Weber.

Fostul campion mondial la Formula 1, Michael Schumacher, a condus un taxi pentru ca familia sa sa prinda un avion.

Am impresia ca McLaren a vrut un pilot mai slab ca Hamilton sa nu mai iasa ce a iesit anul asta!
Nu am nimic cu Kovalainen, dar mi se pare slabut! E adevarat ca nici nu a avut o masina ca lumea in 2007!

Kovalainen este un incepator, dar nu unul de talia lui Hamilton, din pacate. E clar ca McLaren nu doreste sa isi repete greselile din sezonul 2007.

Sa vedem insa ce ne rezerva sezonul 2008.

Kovalainen cred ca a facut o greseala grava pentru cariera lui de pilot F1. Mai bine leu intr-o echpa "normala" decit sa i se taie macaroana din start de la prima cursa pe principiul ce mare pilot este L.H.

Bridgestone va fi unicul furnizor de pneuri pentru echipele din Formula 1 (și) pt. următoarele 3 sezoane.

Spre exemplu, Rossi, si alti piloti din MotoGP, isi doresc un singur furnizor de pneuri in motomondialul de viteza, dar se pare ca acolo nu se va intampla acest lucru din cauza celor care conduc acest sport.
In F1, unde deja este doar un singur furnizor, cred ca este OK pana la urma asa.

La fel de ok cum e si ECU unic, cum ar fi si motoarele unice sau de ce nu, masinile unice.

Stii de ce am zis ca , cred ca e OK?
Pentru ca multi piloti, atunci cand masina "nu merge", adica atunci cand ei nu scot timpii pe care ii preconizeaza, prima scuza este sa dea vina pe furnizorul de pneuri. Ca parca celalalt furnizor ofera pneuri mai competitive, ba ca pneurile pe care le foloseste sunt proaste etc. Asa, exista un furnizor si se mai elimina scuze.
Dand la o parte insa ceea ce am scris mai sus, sa stii ca si eu as vrea macar doi furnizori de pneuri in F1, iar trei ar fi chiar exelent.

Abia acum la final se confirma ca nu au existat nicidecum conditii egale de lupta pentru toate echipele.

Ferrari unveil the F2008

Ferrari became the first team to launch their 2008 car on Sunday when the wraps came off their new challenger at their Maranello base in Italy. The F2008, the 54th single-seater Ferrari have built to contest the Formula One world championship, will be raced by Kimi Raikkonen and Felipe Massa in the team’s defense of their drivers’ and constructors’ crowns this season.

The F2008’s design, codenamed internally as the 659, represents Ferrari’s interpretation of the regulations in force in 2008. A major new element of these is the introduction of a new electronic system to be used by all teams, known as SECU (Standard Electronic Control Unit) and produced by MES (McLaren Electronic Systems.) It consists of a single control unit and a software system, the development of which ends as the season begins.

Other areas affected by rule changes are: gearbox, which must be used for four consecutive events; safety, with the introduction of higher side protection around the driver's helmet; materials, with a limit to the type of composites that can be used. As a result of these rules, there has been an increase in the weight of the F2008 over its predecessor.

All aerodynamic surfaces on the car have been completely revised. However, the current version will be replaced by a completely different configuration in time for the first 2008 race in March and an intensive and all-encompassing development programme is planned to run throughout the season.

The monococque has been further cut away under the driver's legs and the side pods and engine cover are more tapered. The suspension system has been reworked and developed around the new aerodynamics.

The wheelbase and weight distribution have been adapted to meet the challenge of the new regulations and on the basis of lessons learned last year in terms of the performance of the Bridgestone tyres. Changes to the technical and sporting regulations in terms of electronics, alongside the introduction of the SECU, have led to the removal of a host of a driver aids, such as traction control and engine braking and the electronically assisted start system, and also mean that management of the differential, engine and gearchange are much simpler.

The gearbox casing is produced in carbon, while the transmission continues to be mounted longitudinally. For the second consecutive year the gearchange is fitted with a quick shift system, adapted to the SECU software and further speeded up. The braking system has been updated with new callipers and innovative concepts regarding cooling.

The 056 engine is mounted longitudinally and continues as a load bearing element. Its basic structure remains unchanged compared to the unit homologated at the start of last season, while its auxiliary systems, air and fuel intakes have been further developed. The technical regulations also call for the use of fuel corresponding to European Union norms, with a content of components derived from biological sources equal to 5.75%.

Nu neaparat cu nu e "made by Ferrari", cat faptul ca va fi ceva "made by McLaren" pe un Ferrari. biggrin.gif

Adevarul este ca ma enerveaza ideea in sine. Cum naiba sa standardizezi "creierul" masinii? Tare ma tem ca sportul asta a apucat-o pe un drum gresit si se va duce incet-incet la vale, asta doar datorita unor idei de reducere a costurilor. Costurile nu se pot reduce semnificativ in F1, iar daca totusi se va putea, in nici un caz nu asta este calea.

Aducand monopolul in F1, cu siguranta ca nu vor reduce costurile. Mai bine aduceau mai multi producatori.

Exact asta zic si eu. Chestia cu monopolul mi se pare o tampenie.

Facand o comparatie fortata cu WRC .... in F1, indiferent cat de mari au fost costurile, echipe au existat si vor exista fara probleme. Indiferent ca erau perioade in care Ferrari era singurul constructor implicat 100% iar restul erau echipe ce cumparau motoare, indiferent ca erau perioade in care existau/exista mai multi constructori implicati, F1 n-a dus lipsa de "actori". Si cand totul merge bine, Max Mosley vine cu tot felul de idei tampite si, culmea, constructorii chiar le accepta. Pe cand in WRC, desi costurile sunt mult mai mici comparativ cu F1, insa spectacolul este, garantat, mult mai mare, au ramas doar 3 - 4 constructori implicati direct. Acolo trebuia sa se implice Mosley mai mult pentru a facilita si a atrage totodata constructorii.

Dar probabil din biroul lui lucrurile se vad altfel.

Nu m-ar deranja sa ia Piquet ambele titluri in locul lui alonso. Pana atunci insa spaniolul din prima zi a scos cel mai bun timp. Dar na, sunt teste.

Le doresc bafta si lui Alonso si lui Piquet (eu sint fan Ferarri, dar ma bucur de faptul ca Alonso a scapat de cloaca de la MACI).
In alta ordine de idei ramine de vazut daca Piquet si Bourdais(nou veniti) nu se vor pierde in timp precum Montoya.

F1 drivers will not be penalised for their first unscheduled engine change in 2008, FIA President Max Mosley has confirmed in a letter to team bosses.

The rule tweak, ensuring that each driver will not lose ten grid places or be sent to the back of the grid for his first engine change of the season, was apparently agreed at the team principals' recent meeting with Mosley in Paris.

It must now be ratified by the World Motor Sport Council, but this is imminently likely.

"It was agreed that each team could have one engine failure per car without penalty during the 2008 season," Mosley wrote in a letter seen by some media outlets.

"This would be the first engine failure suffered by each car," he clarified.
